Great staff

If you ever wanted to stay on an old English estate, here is your chance! The grounds were truly amazing and the staff were great however not enough of them that day. It was a beautiful old place which seemed very well maintained.

Hotels location is great, gardens are beautiful and beautifully kept... the walks around and wildlife around the hotel are amazing, our room, number 35 in the garden room felt tired, peeling paint in the bathroom, unfunishd decorating arount tv fittings, the 2 single beds are on there last legs and very noisy when you move, We didnt eat here, tried to get breakfast but its £20 and the stressed looking chef who was also serving breakfast said there was no eggs so i left it and had just coffee instead

Beautiful hotel and grounds, but that is where it ends. We stopped in the bar before dinner to find that all the tables had been taken away for the wedding that was happening. Dinner was a complete farce, the restaurant was the main thoroughfare for the wedding guests and their screaming children, running around, very restricted menu. Breakfast was very mediocre, very poor choice, not sure if they have a chef, possibly a cook. All the hot food was cold, the mushrooms didn’t look like they had even been cooked. We paid £354 for a nights stay to include breakfast, dinner, two glasses of wine and a bottle of wine at dinner. Although our room was clean, areas like the stairs were covered in thick dust. Very poor value for money. We won’t be coming back, possibly the most badly run hotel we have ever stayed in.

We received a lovely, warm welcome at reception when we arrived after a tough day. We had a beautiful room, overlooking the garden. Dinner was exceptional (5 stars), our young server was a joy to deal with, knowledgeable, recommended a lovely cider and a great sense of humour. We ate a lovely breakfast outdoors the next morning.

What an absolute joke of a hotel. Arrived at 2:53 as it was tipping down with rain. Receptionist said we needed to wait 7 minutes to check in! So a line of us inside and queued out into the rain waited til 3pm. I thought perhaps it was a computer thing, but no!! The reception lady clocked off at 3 and she didn’t want the effort and the new guy started at 3 and it’s his job. Finally checked in and was give our keys. We booed dinner bed and breakfast at a significant cost as this is supposed to be a quality establishment. The hotel asked if we can eat earlier than booked as there was a wedding going on, we obliged and went for dinner at 6:45. Tried to order off the set dinner menu to be told no meat available as they had none and we had the choice of mushroom risotto or salad, they did have steak but that was extra! What the hell, that didn’t sit well with me so after being sat in a cold room with the atmosphere of a morgue waiting room I went to reception to ask what was going on. The lady (manager) who was dressed very unkempt with terrible breath just said no no no and she if I wanted meat I need to pay extra as they has no other meat left. I asked to check out with a refund and she became very rude and refused. Thankfully I’m genius 3 with Booking.com and they just stepped in and sorted it out. Avoid this place, it’s not luxury or fine dining. Honestly the pub down the road is far better (Northey Arms) and a 1/3 of the price with superb customer care. So disappointed with the service, quality and attitude of the staff.

The hotel was lovely in a beautiful location with lovely grounds, there was no information in the room regarding breakfast times etc, there were no coasters for putting your cups on, massive spider in bathroom and cobwebs in the room, stains on carpet from coffee spillages, there was a new dog toy , poo bags and nice bed for the dog but very little info where you could take your dog within the hotel dining area. We had dinner in the stable room where there was little atmosphere no back ground music, our steak arrived with a pile of lettice and a couple of pea shoots and a slice of tomatoe we had to wait for the chips could have had onion rings , mushrooms, grilled tomatoes. We had breakfast which was average the sausages were not like farmhouse locally sourced they had no brown sauce and the bread was a cheap type the buffet breakfast consisted of boxed cereal, dried fruit, there were no pastries or fresh fruit. I feel that £252 for bed , dinner and breakfast plus £25 for the dog was not value for money , The staff were really lovely hats off to them

A beautiful old building in lovely grounds.

Guyers house is located in a quiet rural spot. Its a great house with alot of history, sympathetically maintained. The rooms are comfortable with views of the grounds. This is my second stay and i will be back. Lots of choice for breakfast. Simple but good evening meals. Seperate bar lounge if required. Easy parking. Fantastic night sleep
