Guyers House Hotel

Enjoyed a few days here. Met some of the staff, and found all those on reception, restaurant and the bar full of smiles and more than willing the help. Ate one evening, in the hotel and found the meal really enjoyable, as we did with the breakfast. Plenty of nice outdoor areas to sit with a view of the gardens which surround the hotel. Will be back in a few weeks. The only thing i would ask, is a few extra tea bags and milk in the room.

Lovely stay, room very tired, but comfortable. Staff Lovely, breakfasts very nice. Evening meal excellence, had the duck absolutely delicious.

They advertised a cheap rate and took the booking with confirmation email via booking.com. Then emailed < 24 hrs before stay date to say they had made a mistake with price and i needed to pay a much larger amount. I suggested a 50% discount for the error they had made and late notice but they did not accept..This is poor hospitality on many levels.

We came here for a weekend away after it ticked all of our boxes - close enough to the city centre, greenery, good reviews etc. We were advised to reserve a table for dinner on the Friday night but were astounded to find out we were the only guests for the whole weekend! The staff were lovely and helpful but the atmosphere was non-existent. Excellent food and staff but a bit of a disappointing experience overall. Would love to come again, hopefully with a bit more of an atmosphere!

Having got married at this hotel some nine years ago I thought it would be nice to take my wife back on valentines day. The visit was a little disappointing, food was so so, while the service was not great and there was no real atmosphere. It struck me that the hotel had not really rebounded from Covid, as staff were young and inexperienced and there did not appear to be many around.

Stayed here about 10 years ago and it was very good then. Now it’s fallen from grace. The rooms are ok with clean linen and towels etc but the food is basic, slow to arrive and limited in choice. There are too few staff and it’s telling. Wouldn’t stay again in a hurry.

The hotel is very pretty but in dire need of some work to the rooms and more staff. Having stayed for two nights and attended a wedding there, all the food was cold or lukewarm, the bar lacking in stock. Has great potential.

Was ok - room was a bit tired and the bed not especially comfortable. Free EV charging

Could be a lovely hotel button needs substantial updating. Service for the dire bar was appalling. The one person also on reception did not bother to check on us in the bar. No heating in the bar apart from a blower heater on the floor. No Christmas decorations!!!
