Hotel Calacoto

The new look is great! I used to love staying at one of their annexes but after their renovation i l enjoy the main building. Great amenities, service and location! This hotel is perfect for corporate groups and has comfortable business rooms for meetings. Wifi was faulty but thats something that is common in La Paz. They mentioned an upgrade so that would make things better.

The hotel is nice and has everything you might expect from a *** hotel and their ball room is wonderful. BUT ... Watch out for their "in house" travel agency (Living Learning Travel). Their (only) operator doesn't have a clue about how to put together and much less how to run and coordinate a tour. SHE LACKS THE SLIGHTEST HINT OF PROFESSIONALISM and doesn't even know the country, or even the La Paz Department. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ...

Two night stay also used the event area. Great location. Ample lobby. Check in was fast. Overall service is average. Personnel is tasknoriented rather that customer oriented. Rooms are large enough a little old but clean. Breakfast has a good selection of items. No business center but there is a small desk with a PC for guest use. We used the large meeting room for a 100 person presentation.

Beautiful hotel and friendly staff... only complaint was that we were promised a box lunch since we had to check out before breakfast and we given dry cookies and juice because no lunch was prepared.

Great hotel, wonderful staff and service, big rooms, We had a problem with altitude sickness our first night and they quickly brought oxygen which helped. Also made some flight bookings for us. This hotel is in the far southern part of the city at a lower altitude, 10,800 feet. It´s a 20 min to half hour by taxi ($5) to the center of the city (witches market, etc).- But the hotel is two blocks from the green teleferico line which can take you up to the Supa cachi neighborhood and el alto. From there it´s a quicker cab ride to the center and the teleferico is fantastic. there are a lot of upscale restaurants and stores near the hotel if you want to stay down there.
