"Very nice hotel and staff, bathroom needs renovation"

8.0

I stayed in this hotel for one week (winter season in Bolivia). I liked it a lot, but the bathroom needs some renovation. Location is very good, I felt safe in the area and the staff is very nice. Food in the hotel's restaurant is good, but you can also find good restaurants nearby (5-10 mins walk). A bit cold in the night, but there was an electrical heater in the room - I turned it on around 6 in the evening and keep it on all night to really feel warm during the nights.

"A Little Bit "Antiguo""

6.0

If you want to stay in the Zona Sur, the location of this hotel is quite good. Walking distance to a number of cafes and restaurants. Also quite close to the teleférico station that can take you to many other parts of the city. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is good with a nice selection of breads, fruit, and juices, and someone on hand to make you fresh eggs. I stayed in one of the garden-level rooms, and while it wasn't bad, it simply was not the most modern room ever. In particular, the lighting was quite poor in the room, and there were not many outlets. The hot water was slow to get going. The price was significantly less than the nearby -- and much more modern -- Casa Grande. That drove my choice, but I got what I paid for.

"A missed opportunity"

6.0

Hotel Calacoto is well located, has nice traditional premises, but could take better advantage of that. The hotel needs to be renewed, specially common areas. I've stayed in a room at Annex 2 and the room itself was pretty good, but too close to the garage - I was unable to open the curtains througout my whole stay - and to the street, making it too noisy, including sounds from the streets but also from the staff, as the staff entrance is there as well as their resting room. I hope that they can take advantage of their simbolic premises to build a more comfortable hotel.

"Great location and old-fashioned hospitality"

10.0

Exceptionally helpful, kind and pleasant staff, both in reception and restaurant. The hotel felt like an old-fashioned home. I was upgraded to an apartment, with living room and kitchenette beside bedroom and bath. It overlooked a nice garden and its access was through a very pleasant terrace-patio. Great location in Calacoto, an upscale neighborhood, 400 m lower than central La Paz, so you feel better. I would recommend it if you like old-style hospitality. Excellent breakfast included in the room rate.

"Good luck"

For company's issues I had to stay on one bad room... too small and not too comfortable... but when I returned one week later I got a better room with jacuzzi, kitchen, closet room and very clean.... you should check first the room you will stay

"I do not recommend this hotel."

6.0

This hotel looks like as hostel rather. The room was old and uncomfortable, very cold and without a good heating system. The bathroom was extremely uncomfortable.

"Really nice"

This hotel has great location, the staff is really nice and rooms are clean and comfy. Completely recommend it! Breakfast is also awesome, which is always a plus! The only disadvantage is wifi, but this is really no surprise in South America

"Hotel located in the south of La Paz. "

8.0

It was a comfortable stay except you could hear people talking and their tv from the adjacent room. Also, rooms don't have ac. We got there on rather hot afternoon wanting to cool off and the best we could do is open the windows to get the breeze in.

"Hard to Believe This Is An Approved Hotel"

4.0

My wife and I had to get some business done in La Paz and stayed 4 nights. The problem is there are elections going on so we had jump from hotel to hotel and stay 4 different places, all claiming to be 4-5 Stars and Elegant. Our 2nd night we had to stay here as there was no other place in town. From the moment walking in it is clear why they have rooms. It is by far below the standards of any person that travels a lot. The halls wreaked of bug spray and the room was filled with mosquitos and bugs. Old and worn out everything. I was aghast. Most hotels come with free breakfast and free wifi in La Paz. The wifi was outstanding and the breakfast was basic as can be. One Huge Note: The airport is 13,400 feet in elevation. The city of La Paz is down in a valley from the airport, so the city is much lower. The city center is around 11,700 feet, which is much more tolerable. The Hotel Calacoto is located even lower than that at 10,700 feet and the lowest point of the city. It really makes a huge difference staying in this area for health concerns and sleeping. But not staying at this hotel unless you simply don't care much about cleanliness.
