El Silencio Lodge and Spa

We love El Silencio ,

Our stay was absolutely amazing. The staff, the accommodations, and the beautiful setting were all amazing. The Spa was also wonderful, most relaxing massage I’ve ever had. We didn’t want to leave!

Wonderful place to really wind down and truly relax (especially after the 2 hour drive from SJO airport).

This place was nothing short of AMAZING. the location., the friendly staff, the herb and hummingbird garden on site, the fresh OJ delivered to our door @6AM. Highly romantic, and recommended :)

I have spent the trip home trying to articulate the profound and delightful experience I had at El Silencio. I came away feeling rested, rejuvenated, healed, and loved. It's not the food, or the amenities, or the activities, or the luxuries - although those were all wonderful and amazing. In the end it was the people. Every single member of the staff went out of their way to ensure that we were happy, cared for, comfortable, and enlightened by our stay. They are so proud of their country and their resort and they couldn't wait to share all they had to offer in the most authentic way. The key is to surrender to the experience and let go of your own expectations. Then let the rain forest work it's magic!

When you arrive you are greeted with warm towels to wash your hands and a fresh fruit drink served in champagne flutes. They take you to your room in a golf cart and the moment you step into your room you see the view from your porch which to me was just hypnotic. I could sit on the rocking chair and stare into the mountains for hours. In the morning you are awakened by the beautiful singing of the various birds on the property. We spent the entire first day hiking the vast property and all the special features it offered such as the mystic trails the waterfall trails, the hummingbird garden and blackberry garden as well as the chicken and trout farms. In the evening we would go into the main lodge and lounge by the fire place to use the wi-fi and we were given complementary hot cocoa and cookies. We enjoyed the complementary breakfast 3 mornings which was exemplary with a different fresh fruit juice everyday. We participated in the Del Tor Waterfall excursion as well as the Chocolate tour which I truly believe is a MUST! I knew that this place was special but not until we leave and went to the very touristy Arenal Volcano area did I truly understand how special and magical this place was.
