"Beautiful relaxing hotel"

10.0

El silencio was a beautiful hotel. The rooms were comfortable and the deck area with rocking chairs had a great view, we loved watch hummingbirds from the rocking chairs in the morning. The only complaint could be that the hot tub takes 2 hours to heat up but plan ahead and it wasn't a problem. The staff was excellent and the food was delicious. Talk to the front desk if you need any ideas of what to do but I will definitely suggest the hidden treasure hike. It's also chiller then the Valley being up in the mountains bring long pants and a coat.

"loved this magical vacation."

10.0

El Silencio does Pura Vida right. I can't say enough wonderful things about this lodge. The cabins, the food, the beautiful forest, and most of all the wonderful employees who made us feel so at home. We will always remember our magical vacation to Bajos Del Toro!

"Wonderful GETAWAY from town stay!"

10.0

The hotel is VERY far away from anything.....so, if you are looking to get away from town, then this is a great hotel. Service was impeccable. The guided hike guide was very knowledgable and pleasant, we took a hike to the waterfalls ourselves and found it absolutely spectacular. They were very accommodating to any requests, even to help us fish in their pond to catch a trout for dinner! The farm to table menu was delicious!

"A Great Place In The Mountains"

10.0

We started out for the hotel from La Garita, and followed our GPS - at night time. It took 1-1/2 hours to get there over some of the most dangerous roads I had ever encountered. The hotel web site advised going by way of Zarcerio, but that did not work in our GPS. Several times I was very tempted to turn back. It was raining and foggy, and the road was essentially only one vehicle wide. Using the high beams to try and see where the road was going just resulted in a lot of glare due to the fog. At one point it appeared the road had ended in a mud bank. We had to get out and search to see if the road did in fact go on. We finally spotted what first looked like a trail off to one side, but then appeared to be a narrow gravel road, and we had to drive over mud to get to it. We finally arrived and thoroughly enjoyed the courtesy of the staff and the accommodations. The hike they offered was cancelled due to the rain. As long as you are willing to be essentially trapped there, with WIFI that may or may not be working in your room, eating all your meals there, doing all your activities there, etc., you should probably enjoy it. We were there for two nights. I would have felt claustrophobic if it had been any longer. In better weather more activities could have been enjoyed, but after all, you are in the mountains - and in the rainy season?

"Serene, relaxing, out of this world experience"

10.0

I highly recommend El Silencio to any couple or individual who wants to take some time to disconnect from the everyday chaos of life. The staff is amazing!!! The waiters are fabulous. The chef and sous chef Aundrey are passionate and talented. The tour guide Jimmy is knowledge, patient and makes your drive and tours memorable. The hotel offers a diverse options of activities for you to explore from zipling (which I highly recommend), cooking lessons(amazing if you have Aundrey), coffee tours(the ride there was a mini history lesson that made our drive quick and our driver Jimmy was very precautions), painting lessons( Kenneth was great), and spa services (very relaxing, a definite must)!!! If you are looking for a relaxing memorable experience, Irecommend El Silencio. There attention to detail is remarkable from arrival to your turn down service every night. The villas are clean and impressive, the views are picturesque. Definitely a place filled with tranquility and attention to detail. I had such an amazing time that I will return next year with the hubby. I wish I would have known of this place before because this would definitely have been our honeymoon spot. It's remote, I don't recommend you rent a car the hotel offers pickup from airport though I utilized Toucan Tours (which was amazing). The roads are steep and require 4x4. No TV or wifi in the room, for a tv junkie like me I survived 5 days without TV. The lounge has TV and wifi. Food and bar service great!!!

"most amazing stay in Costa Rica"

10.0

Amazing location, spread through rainforest. The staff are the best thing, really make the experience special. Ronald is an amazingly passionate guy who encapsulates the ethos of the hotel. The bar staff make excellent piña coladas!! Sergio and Fernando were great restaurant staff too. The chef came out to meet us and he is a skilful guy, recommend the French toast or the chicken pasta. Take a tour to the waterfalls, or birdwatching early morning.
