The Ashbourne Hotel, BW Signature Collection

I want to call out an excellent stay at the Ashbourne. Well appointed large room, excellent parking at the hotel but what made it for me was the onsite restaurant and staff at the hotel. I had an evening meal here that was excellent (Greek Gyros) - good quality food and good portion, very much value for money. If I wasn’t full I would have eaten it twice over, hats off to the chef. On the morning, an excellent breakfast, great quality produce and a shout out to Sally who is an excellent host, nothing was too much trouble and she was very friendly and made you feel at home in the restaurant. Hotel and restaurant (Fork and Spoon) well worth the money if you need somewhere to stay in the area.

Beautiful property lovely layout very clean .Service is terrible.45 mins wait for drinks to arrive with an appology "we lost the order"Resturant cosy but on a Saturday night had run out of certain things on the menu.Know whats not available at the point of order ,not 10 mis after.Waiter did not know what he was doing,white shirt and tie doesnt make a waiter..With trained knowledgeable staff it would be alot better.

After having heard so much about this hotel, decided on a wine/dine/stay deal. Was extremely disappointed with the whole experience. The room- while spacious had obviously not had a proper clean for a while, thick dust on bedside tables and wardrobe/luggage area, thermostat off towel radiator on bathroom floor, spilled drink stains on the door and other furniture, bed fittings not fastened together and some lights not working. Considering the annex we were staying in looked fairly new- there was load creaking noises from the room above whenever anyone walked about or turned over in bed. Evening meal- one meal was fine, however the Greek Style Gyros is a cryptic clue for a very small amount of sliced chicken on a very limp flatbread, that was it! There was some.salad on the plate and an extremely small pot of tzatziki, but that is where the tenuous link to a gyros ends, was told it came with fries- it didnt and for £20- should be reported - its criminal. Breakfast- FULL ENGLISH- 1 slice of bacon that a defibrillator would bring back to life, 1 sausage that was grey,cold and greasy, 1 snotty egg, black pudding that was initially missing as allegedly we'd asked for no black pudding, 2 deepfried black button mushrooms and 16- yes I counted 16 baked beans that were cold. The tea and toast that we were asked if we wanted never arrived and due to the fact that the waitress who was snappy to other guests and telling them how short staffed they were and she was rushed off her feet, put us off asking when it would be coming. There were a couple of 'positives', firstly the young lady waiting on for the evening meal was very polite, charming and engaging and secondly when we left. Really let down and certainly did not live up to reputation that piqued my interest and choice.

The place is lovely. I was a DJ at a party there. All staff I interacted with were wonderful. The room well stocked with tea, coffee, water cartons. The bed was extremely comfortable. Access easy.

My only gripe was that the extractor fan was running constantly!

So close to where we needed to be, and such a quiet spot!
