Jo and Peter, by their fantastic, hospitality, made part of their family. They guided us to all the great activities and dining in the neighborhood, but still made our stay quiet and relaxing. Our only regret was that we did not plan to stay much, much longer. There was so much more we could have done and we do hope to return to do so. Do not shut the curtains in your room. The remoteness of the Matuka lends great privacy while allowing great views into nature. On dark nights, whilst well blanketed on a chaise in the garden, enjoy the Southern Cross and Milky Way without the tour crowds. The Matuka is world class luxury in a very quiet, refined, relaxing way>

Quiet location and convenient to Lake Tekapo and Mt Cook/St Johns. Great hosts and great suite rooms, with luxe amenities (sheets, toiletries, etc). Really nice small touches and attention to detail with personalized service.

Matuka is an absolute dream. From the scenery to the adorable town of Twizel to hosts Jo and Peter, this was one of the best - if not THE best - highlights of our trip. We simply didn’t want to leave. And why would you? Jo’s chocolate chippie biscuits and celebration cake - not to mention her and Peter’s delicious home-cooked breakfasts - keep you coming back for more. We’d without a doubt stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet respite. We truly hope to see Jo and Peter again someday!
