George and Abbotsford Hotel

All to plan with good welcome and comfortable room.

I stayed at the George and Abottsford Hotel for 2 nights at the end of September. The location of the hotel (in the centre of Melrose) was perfect for me. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed the breakfasts served.

Lovely staff, good parking for motorbike.

Bed was way to soft for my liking.

Appalling Hotel. My Room was so bad that I left midway through the Night. I couldn't even bring myself to use the Shower. How on Earth they can possibly charge over a £100 for the room amazes me. The Windows didn't close properly, there was a massive gap at the bottom of the Room door. Wall paper was peeling away. The Bath was disgusting. Probably the worst Room I have stayed in during my 25 Years on the Road. Can't advise on the Bar/Restaurant as I didn't use them.

Large hotel in need of some upgrading. Friendly staff but ultimately the surroundings were poor & rundown
