Good location and comfy bed, staff were friendly and helpful

The room smelled strongly of cigarettes, was very noisy and the both taps of the sink gave hot water.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was very tasty. Good car parking and central location.

Although the hotel was clean and adequate it was a little bit dated.

Well-placed hotel in the town centre, but quite quiet. Good spacious room for our visit, but almost unusable in the evening due to lowest low energy lamps we have ever seen. They go on, but give no usable light. Couldn't plan our walk from maps for the next day, couldn't read our newspaper, nor read in bed. Travellers really must bring a head torch to use the room in the evening. Dazzling light in the bathroom, so had to read papers there.

We were a bit unsure if we had made the right choice of venue as we were the only customers in for lunch . The service was lovely & with a smile . The menu options were modern and the gluten free options were great . The food was super tasty . Served very hot and made to order . I had the gf mac n cheese and it was the most flavourful I’ve tasted to date . It was served with homemade gf Barrie bread & a lovely little side salad . My husband had the highland burger and said it was delicious. The peppercorn sauce served with it was really nice , all lovely and hot and made to order. We would highly recommend the G&A for a great lunch and also for the super choice of GF food

Friends and I found this “Jewel” in Melrose on a day trip from Rothbury, whilst looking for a lunch break. What a treat! We were warmly greeted by a very hospitable lady named Cheryl. Cheryl took our order for lunch and proceeded to make us very welcome with very detailed information about Melrose, venues to visit and local suppliers of deli foods to take home with us. Lunch was well worth the short wait! Absolutely delicious! Great value for money, accompanied by a glass or two of wine. Thank you Cheryl for a delightful lunch/ entertainment in Melrose, we certainly recommend and hope to visit again.

Lovely location easy to find, ideal car parking facilities, staff were lovely and the size of the room was amazing! Also, the coffee making facilities were great!

Our bed was sagging in the middle! It was really uncomfortable. We noticed the latts that held up the actual mattress were all but off on one side. Also, if we visit again, I will be asking for a room at the back as we were woken up with people shouting into the early hours (this is not the hotels fault!) Also, we noticed the water in the bath was yellow from the tap... even the bath was stained with it
