Bell House Hotel & Restaurant

Staff during our stay were absolutely lovely. They were very friendly and helpful. The rooms had what you needed and the good served was delicious and affordable. The bar was very reasonably priced too. Shower let us down a little but that was the only problem.

the place was dirty, the matress was old and covered in stains, my breakfast was burnt and I couldn't eat it. the kettle and shower head was all scalled up. the hot water only came through after running the water for 10 minutes there was in big chip/hole in the tiles next to the toilet. there was cobwebs in the wadrobe/cupboard so I didn't feel like hanging any of are clothes in there.

Nice staff, but the manager said he couldn't move us as we had a specific room when booking through this portal We were right on top of the bar and one night the music only finished when I went and queried when we might sleep. The bathroom is very dated - primrose suite - and only a hand shower and no ventilation. To be fair I think they have a program to renovate rooms, but it is a small sink when you can't fill the kettle! If booking here make sure you get a room higher than 4 - everything with low numbers is over the bar, fronts onto the road and our room was single glazed so noisy

Its a nice old building, so expect uneven floors, tables on the "wonk", floor boards that creak and the need for some updating. However, room rate is good, food is good, "mine host" is good, location is good and only 10 minutes from an M4 junction. Wifi is available but only in the bar area which is not too convenient if there are a large number of diners or people in for a drink. Would I stay again - yes.

Nice comfy pub, wasnt able to sample the evening food as it was a Sunday but the breakfast was tasty and ample.The location suited me perfectly its a small quiet village. The manager was extremely helpful. The bar served a great pint of Buttcombe Bitter.
