"Stopped off en route to Dinan"

10.0

My sister and her husband are over from California and we thought it would be a great place to stop off overnight on our way to our home in Dinan for a few days. It proved an almighty success as there is nothing that old in the US! We also had dinner in the restaurant which was buzzing and it was a very reasonable way to start our holiday.

"Sussex cyclist"

8.0

Beautiful quaint building in historic setting. Ideal for those who seek something different. Overall the meal in the hotel was pleasant but the beef rump steak was so tough I could hardly cut it, never mind trying to chew it! Still I would defintely return to experience these unique surroundings again.

"Ideal first stop after arriving at Cherbourg"

10.0

Lovely historical hotel in centre of the town (Prince Albert stayed there) with fantastic restaurant. Ideally located in the middle of the peninsula so can visit both sides. We were interested in the 1944 events so this was an ideal base for the first day allowing us to visit the west coast (eg Carteret) as well as Montebourg and Utah beach before we headed on down the coast. It is a very friendly and welcoming hotel with delicious food. Ideal first stop as such an easy car ride from Cherbourg.

"In a Chateau"

6.0

The hotel is an old Chateau! I found being in the chateau and being able to see the old structures surrounding it amazing. The room itself was old and uncomfortable to me.. but for the price it was as expected.

"A Big Let Down"

4.0

The welcome and hotel staff attentiveness was good but thereafter things were not good. The roof was under repair which meant dripping water on the bedroom ceiling, workmen starting with great noise at 7.45 ! in a morning; no safety netting to stop nails and small bits of wood falling on us as we exited the front door of the hotel. The room itself had several problems; a hole in the wash basin plug so water just drained away, blood stained bed cover, a messy lay out, a small and uncorfortable double bed, dirty shower curtain and mirror ,small bottled water at 4 euros ago.

"Thank you!"

10.0

This hotel forms part of a castle, it has an associated impeccable restaurant in the knight's hall, and the family room we stayed in was very generously sized. The owner and staff were extremely welcoming and polite. So there you have it: warm hospitality, a great restaurant, great accomodations, all in the context of a castle. If you are in the area, your family wil probably love it as much as we did.

"Historic position for Fawlty."

2.0

Room obscure glass view. Pillow nightmare good mattress. Dark HAIRED waitress Basil's daughter. Worst experience dining described seeking Michelin status? Menu looks impressive but food inedible- a feat for a fillet steak and potatoe concoction. Aroma reminiscent of school dinners. Wine 34 E tasted 4 E. Personal view. AVOID.

We love this hotel. The staff are exceptional. Bathrooms could use an update. Breakfast was very good. Dinner was not as good as last year.
