Amphora Hotel

A beautiful hotel in a fabulous location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is worth adding as it is freshly prepared. Outside terrace has beautiful views and is a great place to relax.

What a beautiful place to stay in Chania! We had a room overlooking the main walkway and harbor. Gorgeous view from inside the room or sitting on the little balcony. The bed was very comfortable, great linens with an extra blanket and plenty of pillows. Entry is behind the main walkway street up old stone stairs (this is Crete and even near the harbor it’s hilly) then up some easy stairs into the lobby. I have some walking challenges but all doable with my cane. The staff were so lovely. We missed breakfast due to jet lag in day one but the guy who prepares breakfast does an amazing job. Lots of choices for cheeses,yogurt, fruit and eggs. We loved this place!!!!

We booked the bay front suite for two nights. There is a stunning view from the balcony of the room; however, you need to be aware that there is a late night party atmosphere that starts around 10:30pm on the other side of the bay and goes to about 3:30 am - even on a Tuesday and Wednesday night! Even with ear plugs in, I could still hear the bass and drums of the music across the way. This can be frustrating when you are already trying to adjust to the time change. However, on day three through seven we had booked the other suite and really liked it. It would not be for anyone who has difficulty handling stairs; however, because it has a spiral staircase to the floor below where the bathroom is. I also want to compliment the cleaning lady, she wanted to make sure if I wanted our room cleaned after the first night and I still had our do not disturb sign up around 1 pm. When she realized I couldn’t speak Greek, she went up to the front desk and had someone who could speak English call me. I let her come in while I was finishing getting ready. She was concerned that I didn’t know how to operate the tv because it was on, but on mute, so she called the front desk attendant who came down to check with me. I was using the usb in the tv to charge my phone, as I had forgotten my converter, but wanted the sound off. When I realized that was charging too slowly, they allowed me to borrow a usb charger for the duration of our stay.

Location, location! Right on the Venetian Harbour. Our room had wonderful views to the harbour with a lovely balcony, extremely clean, well kept. The building is a beautiful property full of accents and tasteful decor. Good wifi, the restaurant downstairs is amazing, delicious food and they give a discount to the hotel clients! Staff was very polite, helpful. We were there during the earthquake and the door of the bathroom got jammed after the movement, my son got trapped inside, the very dedicated lady in the reception rushed to help, she called another staff and she was very apologetic, we kept reassuring that we were ok and knew was not their fault but she insisted in giving us a bottle of wine. We highly recommend this beautiful place, without a doubt was a very important piece in our lovely time in Crete.

Fantastic property, great service. The room definitely lived up to the photos. Ill start with cons since there are only a few. CONS: - Travel from parking lot to hotel (on foot due to alleyways) was grueling with the luggage we had (2 large suitcases, one carry on bag). So if the hotel had a valet to assist with travel from the parking lot to the hotel, that would definitely increase its rep. - Shower water pressure and temp control was terrible. They had a fancy shower head set up but we didnt get to enjoy it due to the lack of water pressure and difficultly controlling the water temp. - Mattress was awful and is due for an upgrade. Extremely flat. - A/C unit worked great but was a bit outdated. PROS: - Location was FANTASTIC!!! Highly recommend staying here purely for the location. Proximity to restaurants, shopping, and the VIEWS!! - Overall decor was great and made it feel very authentic to Chania. We plan on staying here again when we visit Chania next year, so hopefully the cons get addressed by then.

Location location location it was wonderful to be on the Harbour! You really got to feel the Cretean vibe and be in it. It can be a little noisy at night but wasn’t too disturbing. Smelled like play dough in the halls from the hookah lounges nearby but tolerable. Would have loved if the do not disturb signed was acknowledged as we did not want anyone in our room and made sure the sign was clearly displayed. Room was spacious and perfect with a patio looking out at the lighthouse and the entire harbour.

Our room was even more beautiful than the pictures. We feel like we got very lucky as our hotel was the most beautiful in Chania! The room was absolutely charming with wood beams and hardwood floors; but importantly, the bathroom was modern and the AC rocked. The hotel location is perfect--right by the sea and the best shops. But even though we were right in the middle of everything, our room was very quiet at night. The staff were all so nice, and we loved the restaurant. Definitely get the breakfast option--It was delicious and the staff made it feel as though we woke up to have coffee and Dakos in a sweet family kitchen. When we go back, we will never stay anywhere else!

Nice hotel, almost feel like my own apartment. Quiet, safe, close to everything. You can find a free parking spot not to far and always available, check on google and choose it for the gps, don’t put the hotel address bcs there is no way to reach it by car. Found that public parking first, then you walk 5 min that’s it! This info could safe me a headache and stress trying to reach the hotel driving by small and busy streets.
