Royal Floridian Resort

This is my second time visiting with 15+ years in between visits. They have maintained the property very well; not the best place I’ve ever stayed but they care and it shows.

Great place! People were very friendly! Right in the beach!!

We have been staying at The Royal Floridan for 15 years and have enjoyed every stay. We are owners there and can't say enough about the wonderful experiences we have had while staying there. We always go for Daytona Bike Week and the location is perfect. Plenty of friendly staff that can answer any and all questions, indoor parking for motorcycles, indoor and outdoor pools, activities to keep you as busy as you want to be. Our family joins us and we all agree The Royal Floridian is top notch !!!!!!!!

We rented this resort through RCI and it was a disappointment! We were 2 couples and were told we had a 2 bedroom on the 2nd floor oceanfront. When we arrived it was 1st fl lockout. The one bedroom was good size but the bed was so soft & old and the 2nd room had a double bed for 2 adults! only a port hole window and a small lamp on the one night stand. Not suitable for 2 adults. The pool and beach are very nice but remodel the rooms! Not even a kitchen table just a bar. Would not return!

The resort has plenty of things to do. We were not bored. Will there I had a fall and broke my ankle, which meant we were not going to be driving home on the dates we had anticipated. I needed surgery on my ankle and required some PT. This pushed out our departure date by a week. We were supposed to sign out at the end of the week but I was unable to do so. The resort offered my wife a complimentary studio room for her to stay in while I completed my PT.

Well used as exchange with Interval International. Not in same class as our home resort. We also own Wyndham and no comparison. Unit clean but a lot broken in room, towel bar fell off wall on removing towel. Light out above stove. Drawers in kitchen hard to open. And kitchen has no cookie or pizza pan?!? One small skillet and 3 pots. Had to mix pasta salad in soup pot. Pool chairs are uncomfortable and 1/2 broken. Chairs reserved and no one ever comes. No security, non smoking resort with constant cigarette smoke ? Went to sales presentation and lied to and told 1 hour, held us 90 min. They did concede we would not buy. We were in south tower and side water view ok but getting to pool area is up steep steps and not at all older adult friendly, Don’t see us returning. Parking is insuffient.

PROS * We had the first floor in the main building, so access to the pool area and beach was super convenient. * The bedding was very comfortable and was clearly newer. If they offered for me to purchase it, I might have! LOL! * The location of the hotel is very close to restaurants and grocery stores. * They have a tiki bar in the pool area serving reasonably priced drinks and simple lunch food. CONS * The units are not all created equal. We came with family and two parties stayed in the South tower and we were in the main building. Each unit was different. Our one family member’s unit in the south tower on the corner was the nicest. It was the most updated and was just gorgeous, with A LOT of living space in the main area of the unit. * Our unit did not come with a washer and dryer. We were in the main building and our family in the south tower had a washer and dryer. I would think that if you are paying for a two bedroom unit, that a washer and dryer should be given. * We were on a first floor, 2-bedroom unit in the main building and the main living area was very cramped and tiny. The master bedroom was GIGANTIC, but they skimped on the main living area. It was very tight. The fridge door bumps up against the chair for the living room. * The units in the south tower are more spacious, regardless of the number of bedrooms. * They lock the gates at night. This was disappointing, as we like to walk the beach at night or sit out on the patio and look up at the stars and listen to the beach. You can’t do this because they lock gates and don’t give you access to those areas at night. * The units don’t have a vacuum. You are only provided with a broom and dust pan. These are inadequate for cleaning up sand. Sand was everywhere! * The windows and patio doors don’t have screens. You can’t open the windows and the patio doors don’t have screens. This is frustrating if you want to listen to the ocean and let in fresh air.

Cooperative, accommodating staff. Very clean room.

This is a great place to stay. Resort style with lots of activities for all ages. Love staying here. The sand art to do while here is really fun for all but especially the kids. They get to make sand art and take it home for a souvenir. Indoor and outdoor pools are fantastic. The activities by the pool (whether it is the ice cream social, or hamburger social, it is a plus.
