Hotel Alexander

We liked everything about the property, the staff, and the surrounding area. It's in a great location. The hotel is in excellent condition and spotless. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely had a great stay and would certainly book it again when in Zurich.

Lobby too small.

We spent two nights at this hotel, after reading the great reviews here. The location is great, with just a 10-12 minute walk from the train station. The reception person who checked us in the evening we arrived was very helpful! He greeted us every time, was friendly, and very helpful. He helped make our stay pleasant. The reasons why I gave them a lower rating- I had put in a note for a quiet room when making the reservation so they gave us a room on the 4th floor with a slanted, attic like ceiling. Those rooms should have a lower rate and we should have never been put in that room. A quiet room does not mean compromising on room quality. As the room is tiny, we had to watch our heads so we didn't hit it while using our suitcases. We did reach out to the front desk right away, but were told they couldn't make any changes that day. Extremely disappointing! Another negative was the lack of a lounge/lobby area. The check in area gives a tacky, low end feel. We've stayed in other small hotels in Switzerland where there is very little space in the check in area but they have a lounge area incorporated into the breakfast area, which is nice. Since there are no kettles in the rooms, there's a coffee machine and apples available at check in. If I were going again, I would check other hotels available right behind this one, with similar rooms and breakfast, but a much nicer entry and lounge space.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff were exceptionally kind, helpful, and always professional. They made me feel very welcome from the moment I arrived. The room was clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was warm and inviting. I truly appreciated the excellent service and attention to detail. Highly recommended – I would definitely stay here again!

It's a no frills property but the breakfast is good and the rooms are clean.

The hotel Alexander was clean , with comfortable beds. Reception was accommodating . Excellent breakfast . Perfect location . Easy walk to station , transit. Very Walkable area to shops , restaurants and River . Excellent stay , highly recommend .

A lovely stay with easy access to important sites and walkability to tons of restaurants and cafes in the city! The receptionist was extremely helpful in giving us information to make the most of our short stay. We would highly recommend Hotel Alexander!

Nice centrally located hotel close to train station and old town Zurich. We appreciated our room was ready early, after a long day of travel. The room was small, but comfortable for a couple, and very clean. Bed and A/C was fine in our 3rd floor room. Breakfast was very good and plentiful choices including eggs, bacon/sausage, fruit, pastries, yogurt and coffee/tea for example. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful in pointing out sights and restaurants that they marked on the map, to help orient us. There is a great Fish restaurant right across from the hotel. There was a slight bit of street noise, but we slept fine. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the friendly staff, excellent breakfast, and prime location in Zurich’s Old Town—close to shops and restaurants. However, the air conditioning in our room was quite weak, which made it uncomfortable during the summer heat. A stronger AC would have made a big difference.

It is “air conditioned,” but it is very weak. It was not strong enough to cool a room on the 4th floor when the high temperature was 84F (29C). Very disappointing because we specifically wanted A/C. The staff said that was the best they could do. The breakfast is excellent with many healthy and unhealthy choices. The room was quiet. Location is very close to very touristy area. It was easy to walk to from train station rolling our bags .
