Hotel Alexander

Just got back from a 5 day/6 night stay at the Hotel Alexander and it was an absolutely delightful stay. I found the room to be perfect for my needs. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great! The breakfast was delicious with lots of options, from eggs and bacon, to yogurts, meats, cheeses, pastries and fruit. All of the staff I encountered were absolutely delightful and super friendly. The hotel offers a free wifi hotspot on a first come/first serve basis and it was a great thing to have when traveling around as it helped with not having to pay any roaming fees when using my phone. The hotel is perfectly located, close to lots of restaurants and tram/bus stops and the train station. I highly recommend the Hotel Alexander for your stay in Zurich! ...bit of advice not hotel related, make reservations anywhere you plan to eat. Some of the more popular restaurants get very busy!

Great service and location.

We stayed at the Alexander twice, and the inconsistencies took it from a five-star to a four star. First, the location is excellent. It is an easy walk from the train station and right on the bustling Neiderdorfstrasse, a cobbled street just a block from the river Limmat, with shops, restaurants, and nightclubs all around. Although both rooms offered ear plugs, noise was never a problem for us on either occasion. The staff were delightful and very helpful. Breakfast was excellent: eggs, meats, muesli and cereals, fruit, croissants, and a variety of pastries. Note that some of the rooms on the second floor are quite close to the breakfast room. The room was fairly small, but typical for European city hotels. It came with a small fridge which was generously stocked with a complimentary mini-bar. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were both modern and well-appointed. The inconsistencies were somewhat minor, but worth noting. One room in which we stayed had a shower only; the other had a deep tub. One room had an espresso coffee machine, and the other had no coffee maker. If either of those features are important to you, you should request them when you make the reservation. In sum, however, we both enjoyed the Alexander and would stay there again.

Our primary purpose for our first visit to Zurich ( from Australia) was to visit Christmas Markets. Hotel Alexander was located in a very convenient position to access those at the train station, the city centre and those immediately across the road. The hotel was very comfortable with helpful staff and special touches such as the free coke, beer and water in the mini bar and the fruit and water fountain (with sparkling water) on the second floor. There was also a book exchange shelf which is something I always welcome. There are many places to eat within the immediate vicinity and a supermarket a couple of doors away.

This would have to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The 2 rooms we booked for 2 nights were not the rooms that were allocated to us. We were allocated rooms that would normally fit a single bed. Our rooms had a queen bed shoved up against a wall with only one table lamp attached to a desk area and no bedside tables. When we spoke to the receptionist, Laura, to discuss our concerns about the rooms we had booked, we were met with a very defensive and aggressive response from her advising us that the rooms were in their category and that we needed to do better research because the rooms advertised on Expedia were not their rooms. When I checked the hotel's website the rooms we booked were the same as the rooms advertised on the Expedia website. Laura's excuse for putting us in these youth hostel, dorm style rooms was that it was the same category. We're we eventually moved to a room consistent with the advertised room, and our booking, for our second night but they could not or would not move the other couple we were travelling with. This hotel is deceitful, untrustworthy and I would not recommend staying at this hotel under any circumstances. The treatment we received ruined our Zurich experience.

Nice boutique hotel located between Soho and Covent Garden areas. Spacious rooms, clean and friendly and helpful staff.

We went on a self planned tour of Christmas Markets in Europe in 2024. Since we were traveling by train from one destination to the next, our primary criteria for a hotel was to find a nice hotel near the train station so we would not need to drag our luggage a great distance. Hotel Eden Wolff was terrific - just a 6 - 8 minute walk from the train station. Plus the staff was great, the rooms were small but nice, and the included breakfast was excellent. The hotel was quiet, conveniently located in the Old Town, and comfortable. We found a self service laundry a block away. Highly recommended.

Hotel Alexander is the most perfect hotel for a short stay in Zurich. Less than 10 mins walk from the main train station and right in the heart of the old town so perfect for exploring if you have limited time in Zurich as part of a larger trip. Super friendly and helpful staff. I was worried this might be a bit basic from the photos on the booking site, but needn't have worried, it was extremely clean, comfortable and a perfect base. Best pillow I had on the whole trip and also the best scrambled eggs I had all trip! Would definitely recommend and will definately come back again next time I'm in Zurich. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Parking is an adventure. Expecting to find parking at the hotel, I circled the block a few times trying to figure out what I was overlooking. I finally found somewhere to park and walk to the hotel. The staff was very nice, but I was instructed to pull in front of the hotel to unload our bags, then someone would show us where to park. The lady who rode with me and took me to the garage with the elevator I had to drive into was very nice. The man who took me back to get my car at the end of my stay was not particularly friendly, nor was he patient as I tried to drive a rental car I wasn’t exceedingly familiar with, into an elevator that felt like it barely fit. The hotel itself was nice though and in a good location.
