"Great experience"

1st time with our best friends to Tulum. The resort was a perfect "adult only" size. The buffet was great with lots of fresh, international cuisines. We were in building 433 by the Sushi pool. Lots of shade and very quiet. There's no bar, but a cooler with beer, water, fresh towels, coffee machine and some snacks. Unfortunately they wrap the coffee machine up at night and lock the cooler. Rooms are basic and comfortable. Not a lot of closet space so pretty much lived out of my suitcase. There's no more than a 7 minute wait for the golf carts to take you to the other resorts. The private Sian Kann beach is lovely with a nice bar. Further down the beach is a gorgeous infinity pool looking over the ocean. Its in the adults only section of Akumal. . Tequila is sweet and quiet. Birding with Mario and EcoBahai is great. It costs $7 USD / person, but worth it. Concierge and Customer experience is great. Unfortunately, there's no maps telling you where the ala carte restaurants are, so you have to ask every time. Skip the Hacienda unless you're looking for cheap trinkets as gifts. No real artisans. Coffee..buy at duty free in airport $10 USDas opposed to $19 USD/bag. We used the Tour co. In the lobby..went on a snorkel trip and to 2 cenotes. It was SO crowded. Disappointing 😞. Beach is very rocky but beautiful. Bring water shoes. Definitely a resort we would go back to!

"Relaxing Atmosphere"

The resort is dated and could use some TLC but this did not take away from our vacation. Our room was comfortable and always clean. The food offerings were incredible and the entire staff works hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We would definitely return to this resort for another vacation!

"Not a 5 star resort"

You are accepted at this hotel but not welcomed and you may see and feel beginning from a particular individual at the reception and ending in the a la cart restaurants. The service is often questionnable. Water is suddenly shut off in the very dated room exactly when you are in the washroom doing your business. The room is not a 5 stars resort, small, dated and having functional issues. The tea is provided the very first day, then you have to ask if you catch the guy. Waiters in the a la carte restaurants are overworked and stressed to the extent of being sometimes even rude with clients. The restaurants are obviously understaffed, which causes frustration of the overworked personnel and this is reflected on clients. The Japanese and Katok restaurants are examples of this attitude. I didn't want to complain on the treatment we have received at the Japanese restaurant at Sian Ka'an, as the nervous, stressed employee, who pushed us and lied to us, could lose their job. It was surprising compared with other waiters. Is 30-40 seconds enough to choose the menu before being nervously pushed? On the positive side, the food and service in buffet is excellent, the bar, buffet and some a la carte restaurants service (Alux, Kuun, Tequila and Flor del mar) is also good, as well as the cart movement between resorts. Outside area is well maintained. To conclude: the hotel is fine for the 4 star but certainly not the 5 stars resort (except for the cost). The management should address the employee issues. SPA facial treatment is excellent according to my wife, however, the relaxing massage lacks quality. Will we ever return to this place? Doubtful.

"Another great trip"

We went to the resort in January for 11 days. We have been many times in the past and it was another great trip. What makes the resort so incredible is the cozy surroundings, the great restaurants and above all the amazing service! The manager Oscar does a fabulous job training his team to go above and beyond expectations. Some of the people that made our trip so great are: Enrique in Guest Services. He is an asset to the resort. He is outgoing and friendly and could not do enough to make the trip great. At the buffet, the manager Daniel made sure to greet us every day and we enjoyed the wonderful service from Eglady, Miriam and the lady who made our eggs every day. At the french restaurant we ended up having the younger Roc serve up and he really made both evenings memorable. Liz and Alex on the entertainment team kept things fun all day and into the evening. You won’t meet a more caring and friendly individual than Alex. We have know him for quite some time and we look forward to interacting with him on every trip. The pool service was also awesome. Carlos the bartender and Gabriella kept our excellent drinks full all day. If you are thinking about the Sian Kaan I highly recommend it!

"Fantastic stay!"

We had 14 nights at Sian Ka'an and the overall experience was first class. Firstly the service and staff was impeccable throughout the stay. This was amongst the best we . have encountered in over 40 years of holidaymaking. Next the food was for the most part really good or excellent. We managed to book a la carte every night on the app in advance of the stay. Le Gourmet and Ku'uk at Akumal were our favourites with quality food offerings, presentation and service. Maiko at Sian ka'an was impressive along with Nikkei Mashua at Tequilla that provided a fine Japanese/Peruvian fusion that we have experienced nowhere else. We didn't have a great time at the Don Pablo restaurant at Tulum with food and service not matching other venues. All the rest were great however please bear in mind that Tequilla restaurant at Tulum is mainly buffet with only the starters served to the table. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with exceptional choice and great pastries. We also liked the Cenote 24 hour bar at Sian Ka'an for occasional breakfast or lunch. The shuttle transportation between hotels was efficient never waiting more than 10 minutes and usually less. The junior suite superior was fine. It is true to say that it wasn't new but not everywhere can be! Housekeeping was exceptional. The drinks selection was usually good however on occassion certain choices frustratingly did run out. Also the lobby bar closed up to 15 minutes before the published time. We only went to the beach and associated bar once but found it to be a pleasurable experience however don't expect a pristine white sand carribean beach! In summary this was an outstanding holiday truly made great by the brilliant staff and well presented resort. We would not hesitate to return or recommend to others.

"Bahia has Fallen"

I have been going to this resort for years. It was my absolute favorite. So I convinced my son and his new bride to come for their honeymoon while I celebrated my birthday. What a disappointment!!! So many things in my room were broken and/or not working. They came to "fix it". Phone still not working. Half of my lights not working. Asked concierge to arrange for champagne etc (on my bill) put into their room. Didn't happen. It took me 4 days of repeatedly speaking to Armando the first day, Daniel the 2nd day (who assured me it was taken care of, it wasn't. And finally Fernando on day 3. They finally received it the day before they left. Too late now. Surprise spoiled! The website and app were a nightmare. I've never had trouble until this year, logging in to make my reservations and plans. Everyone on resort had the same complaints. Most didn't get a la carte reservations because all restaurants claimed they were full. Even though they were not by any means full. I also asked concierge to add my son and his wife to my existing reservations. What a nightmare that was. Again Armando said he would take care of it. He did not. Daniel said he would fix it. He had to put us in a different restaurant that we did not want to make it happen for that night. Said he'd take care of the rest and did not. I literally had to see concierge every single day to get them on my reservation. I already have a table. That they clear settings from if I'm alone. Adding 2 ppl shpuld have been a simple request. What a waste of my trip spent fighting for things that in the past were never an issue. I was looking forward to bringing more family next year. But I will sadly, not be returning. It felt like home away from home until this trip. Time to move on and find a new home. Bahia has lost me forever. Also there was numerous places on the resort that were covered in mold Absolute shame as the resort is stunning and the staff is lovely (for the most part)

"Best vacation!"

Beautiful resort and wonderful staff. The resort was very clean and well kept. Loved that it was a short walk to everything and you could take the shuttle to the beach and other resorts.

"À not so little gem"

Once again back for some winter sunshine (although the evenings were surprisingly cold for the first few nights of our stay) and the hotel and complex again delivers. Herself had booked à la cartes across the complex for nine out of our ten nights and everyone was a great experience. That said the standard of food wherever we ate at whatever time of day was high. This year we were located on a first floor and yes the rooms are a little dated but we’re clean and functional. We had humidity problems last year and were provided with a de-humidifier on request which worked well. Wherever we went - beach, bar, pool or lobbies everywhere was clean and tidy and as ever the real asset are the staff who are cheerful, friendly and always keen to help. We await updates on the post Hyatt takeover before committing next year but will be surprised if we are not tempted back again!

"SK is dated and needs some TLC"

Sian Kaan was very dated. The exterior of the buildings has not been well maintained. The rooms are clean but very worn. Service was great….as usual and the food was good. Very disappointed with Hyatt merger but time will tell.

"Sian Kaan 2026"

Spent 11 nights here end of Jan 2026. We spent nights in 2 different room types, garden view suite with outdoor tub and the penthouse . No complaints at all. Outdoor tubs are definitely G rated. Depending on location some are not private at all. Next time will just stay in the penthouse. Minor issues with both rooms, just wear and tear. Outdoor pools are great but cold. Most people would not go in them. We did not have an issue. Trolley system is easy and always available. We enjoyed getting dropped off at one of the other resorts , Tulum or Akumal and walking the beach or through Coba, Tequila and then grabbing the shuttle back at the opposite end of the beach. A la cartes are all ok. Alux was our favorite. Smokehouse, gran tortuga and tapanyaki were very good. Buffet was very good. Lots of options. Staff is excellent. The pool entertainment crew, Fernando, Abigail, Alex are amazing. Room service. Every morning. On time, with a smile. Cenote pool bar is very convenient and we enjoyed the service. BBQ on some days. Cancun Adventures were amazing for our 3 tours, ATV, turtles and Tulum . Only complaints we had were, upcharges for certain types of booze or parties. Kind of bs. If this hotel is luxury, higher quality booze and the parties should be included. Also now that Hyatt is taking over the Gran Bahia points should be honored. Apparently these points will not be. Is this hotel luxury...maybe not quite. 5 star.. yes. It looks like a lot of focus is being put on the Tequila resort. We will return.
