I liked the tile floors and decor. And I loved the lobby of the sister hotel

There wasn’t anything to not like

We only stayed one night on our way somewhere else, and it met our needs. It was clean and roomy and had plenty of amenities.

The check in was at a sister property down the street. We checked in after hours so there was no one to greet us, but the hotel left very detailed instructions on how to obtain the key. The room was clean and bed was fairly comfortable. The motel is located right next to the road so was some road noise. The motel was kind enough to provide nose plugs so that helped ease the road noise.

The good: The beds were clean and comfortable enough. Most things in the room worked. The room was spacious and so was the bathroom with double vanities and a nice sized closet. There was a working refrigerator and microwave. The cons. There was a mystery door in our room to the office. There was no wifi available to us. We were in the room next to the office and we never could log into the wifi network. The room was large, but there was no real place to relax. It was the bed or one of 3 kind of uncomfortable chairs, or two backless camp stools. No table to sit at. An end table had been setup as a table between two chairs. Outside was a garden table and chairs that had been appropriated by the room next to us. Again, no table. The shower is a tiny stall and the shower head is very low. I am not that tall. Finally, the lobby. There is supposed to be a stocked coffee station with k-cups, etc. It was not. I had to request the coffees. Then when I got there a couple of hours later, 6 of the 10 pods they left had already been used. So I had to take 2-3 away so I could make coffee in the morning when we were leaving. While we didn't spend oodles of time on property here, it would have been nicer if 1) wifi worked, 2) I didnt have to hoard coffee. It was clean and did the job, but it could have been much better with a bit more attention.

The Maverick is nostalgic! Like a cool kitchy motel. I’ve stayed here several times, and this one was for working remotely. Only problem was I could not get the WIFI to connect.

I didn’t like having to check in downtown to get your room key.

We need to register at different hotel a mile away. Waited almost 30 minutes to register. Receptionist was handing a phone registration for 15 minutes before she could serve us. She had problems getting authorization for herself to give us our reserved room. The bathroom amenities were good but the shower looked dingy and stained. It probably needs updating.

Adorable little place. Our room was VERY spacious and worked out perfect for my son’s visit to Sul Ross (literally across the road). We had a quick one night stay but plan to go back. The a/c was a little tricky to turn on but we got it going and all was well.

I love to stay at the Maverick when I am visiting Alpine and Fort Davis 💜Spacious and private rooms, comfortable beds and linens. Charming southwestern decor. Across the street from Sul Ross University. Close to everything in town. Always a laid back and cool time😎

We stayed here for one night on our way to Big Bend. Hotel is cute and quaint. I would stay again.
