Luna Apartments

There were no staff at the apartment block, all entry was done with pass codes. There was a change to our room which we found out about from other guests ( as no staff were present) apartment was clean and well presented. Bins were emptied and new towels were supplied every second day Our luggage was picked up and taken to an office on the final day, to allow us to enjoy our final day

During our 3 nights stay, the fire alarm for the whole building went off 3 days in a row and 2 of that happened during our sleep. On the first night the alarm went off at 1am. We tried to used the phone in the unit to call customer service number as we didn't know what to do but the phone wasn't working. We ended up calling the emergency number with our cell phone to get help. The operator contacted Luna apartments. Someone came by half an hour later, he came inside the building for a second and then went to the back of the building and the alarm was off. He told us the alarm is broken and he disabled the alarm. He said it would not happen again and he will have the security company to come fix it “first thing in the morning”. At around 2am we could go back to sleep. We emailed Luna Apartment to report this problem. Second night we came back around 6:30pm and we could hear the fire alarm ringing from a block away before we get to the unit. Few other residents were at the lobby wondering what is going on and we called the emergency number again to get help. This time the operator couldn't reach anyone from Luna. We waited for half an hour and the alarm turned off. We emailed again for the problem. Third time happened at 6:30am, 12 hours later from last time. The fire alarm went off again. We didn't enjoy our stay here because we could not get good rest. Everyday was dealing with the fire alarm problem with no help offered from Luna Apartments as they only responded once.

Check in was easy as they emailed you the code in advance for the entrance and lock box. Luna Apartments actually has quite a number of locations and beware that the pictures that you see is NOT the apartment you booked into. That happened to us a few weeks ago when we stepped into Amtmannsstigur 5 Unit #30, it didn’t look like what we saw on Orbitz. The unit we stayed was at street level, right by the main entrance door. We could hear residents walked by, made noises and slammed the door! The unit itself is poorly lit, it is so dark in the living room and the bathroom. It is just very uncomfortable because of the dim light In addition to that, the floor squeaks throughout the unit, the carpet underneath the dining table has rolled up corners, making it very easy to trip over if you are not paying attention walking around. The ceiling was peeling off by the kitchen. The rooms in this unit are in good size. Kitchen utilities are just basic, there is no oil provided plus salt and pepper were used up when we arrived, we have to email Luna apartments but they only filled up the salt the next day. The big clock inside the unit weren’t functioning at all.

Apartment was excellent eventually. First apartment was changed due to a burst pipe, fair enough but we had arranged all our pick ups and drop offs to first apartment. On arrival at second apartment we found it was already occupied and were given a third apartment. Not a great start to a three day break.

Loved the apartment. Within easy walk from bus stop 8 for tours which at the cathedral ie 5 mins walk.

Great location, fairly basic layout - but everything you would need (& more than we expected). Bedrooms could be more comfortable.

When we booked the apartment the pictures posted were not of the actual apartment. We needed space for three adults, so a regular hotel room was out of question. What we received was a small, dated apartment with a sofa sleeper that was not large enough for an adult. We payed a lot per night, had to pay for an additional guest and were therefore really disappointed. Towels were only for two people - again we booked for three - and only after two calls we received a third set two days into our stay. Really great location, only a couple of minutes walk to downtown. But the apartment needs to be renovated, is only good for two people and was overpriced. Luna apartments has a pool of properties, and unfortunately you don't know what you get in advance. And yes, like others wrote, the keypad on the entrance door was a hit and miss, most of the time it took us at least 5 tries to open the door. Parking is street parking but typically it is not a problem to find a spot somewhere close by.

Upon arrival, the unit assigned to us was not acceptable and smelled of smoke. They moved us to the 4th floor (no elevator) to a very nice unit. We were there for 3 nights and no one came in to empty trash or change towels. We appreciated that we were given a two bedroom unit, but I would not stay there again.

I loved the place. It within walking distance from bus stop or even the bus terminal. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby as well as shops. There are plenty of offices nearby to book tours. Highly recommended.
