Good short stay hotel

We have an expensive car, so secure parking is important to us. We also like to be within walking distance of the centre when visiting cities, and to stay in a reasonable quality hotel. This Ibis Style hotel ticks the boxes. It is modern and clean, but not particularly classy, and it suited us for an overnight stay in Bordeaux. It offers an inclusive continental breakfast, which was of good and varied quality, although the restaurant was very busy at 0930 on a Saturday morning in October. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the cathedral, and another 5 minutes to the river. There were plenty of vacant spaces in the underground car park (entrance ramp in the street behind the hotel), but also a lot a concrete columns to avoid. You really need someone to watch the corners of the car when negotiating the way out, We'd booked a couple of weeks ahead, so we were a bit put out that there were rooms available on the Friday evening at a cheaper rate. Finally, if arriving from the north ignore Sat Nav attempts to direct you to the hotel by going into the city and then coming out to the hotel. It was a traffic nightmare. Instead, go round the ring road and come off at the junction for the street where the hotel is.

Great Hotel, Staff were great. Willing to help every detail and spoke English when my French failed me (didn't take too long if I'm honest). Appreciated.

Hotel 10 minutes from the Lianes 1 bus stop Barriere d'Ares (other side of the Cemetery!) takes 45 minutes but only 1.5 euros compared with the airport bus at 8 euros and only stop at the main rail station. Hotel like all Ibis Styles modern and bright rooms not large but adequate for our needs. Hot water in shower almost straight away and powerful. Large comfortable beds, a/c and hairdryer (no coffee/tea making facilities) but bar downstairs. Breakfast had plenty of variety but all cold. Staff very pleasant and helpful with directions. 20 minutes walk to City Centre on a straight route.

The hotel is nice, clean and cosy but the neighborhood is a little dull. Meriadeck is more a business district.

Nothing around so fine for An overnight stay before moving in closer to town. The corridors and rooms are a bit dated but quite comfortable.

Good for a one night stay as location isn't great, but overall no problems.

The area around the hotel was a bit run down, likely due to the on-going recession in France, but the hotel itself was fine and once you learned the bus and tram system, getting to and from it was very easy.....staff were very pleasant and helpful, particularly with getting access to a computer as the one for guest use in the lobby was broken during our entire 11 day stay. The restaurant was small and the food was good, even if the menu was a bit limited.

The hotel was convenient to the excellent tram system for Bordeaux with a car park which is a bonus. The room was poor. Only one bedside table, very odd design features, plastic curtains etc. One bedside light did not work and despite reporting it our first night, was not mended all 3 nights of our stay. The bed was very hard and sleep difficult to come by.Breakfast was mediocre. The coffee tasted of not much and the bread and pastries very poor quality.The rooms were well cleaned, but the front desk service was not very helpful. We asked for more coat- hangers and were told that 6 was standard and that was that. Likewise with pillows. There was one spare and that was all we could have. I certainly would not stay there again for a weekend.
