We have had the pleasure of staying at Cinnamon Citadel Kandy several times and each visit has been marked by exceptional hospitality and remarkable experiences.
The hotel is within easy reach of the city while remaining peacefully tucked away in a serene natural setting, surrounded by captivating lush greenery. The rooms are very cozy, offering direct views of the Mahaweli River. Breakfast and dinner at the Panorama Restaurant feature an impressive selection of expertly prepared, flavourful dishes that blend international favourites with local specialties. The lobby lounge, overlooking the pool, provides a relaxed setting to enjoy a drink, play games, or simply unwind and take in the surroundings. Guests can also explore the Blue Gems store which features a beautiful collection of gems and jewellery, and may even have the chance to meet local artisans who occasionally showcase their handcrafted creations in the lobby.
What truly sets this hotel apart, beyond its facilities and surroundings, is the warmth and care of its people. Every member of the team consistently demonstrates a sincere commitment to making each guest feel welcome and well cared for. We would like to thank Dinushi, Nanjini, Akansha, and Roshan at the front desk for their assistance with check-in, check-out, and all enquiries. Our appreciation also goes to Duminda, Asela, and the entire Panorama Restaurant team, whose attentiveness and efficiency were consistently evident. We are equally grateful to Ishara, Rukmal, Chinthaka, Hiruni, Imasha, Hasini, and Dinashan in the lounge bar, and bar supervisor
Sriyantha, as well as Rasika and Govindaruj from room service, all of whom played a significant role in ensuring our comfort and enjoyment throughout our recent, 6-night stay.
Most importantly, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Naleen, who personally coordinated the arrangements for our most recent stay and ensured that the celebration of my 26th birthday was truly unforgettable. His exceptional care, genuine kindness, and remarkable attention to detail were evident in every aspect of our experience, during our stay in the hotel and beyond. The culture of hospitality he embodies is reflected throughout the entire team and is one of the reasons Cinnamon Citadel feels like a second home to us.
We would also like to thank Mr. Danushka, Mr. Kasun, Mrs. Srimali, and, in particular, the Resort Manager, Mr. Charith, all of whom, through their management and commitment to excellence, ensure that every guest enjoys a seamless and memorable stay.
As part of the arrangements for my birthday celebration, we were treated to a private outdoor dinner featuring exquisite dishes prepared by Chef Sarath. We also had the opportunity to participate in an engaging hands-on cooking workshop led by Chef Chathura and Chef Sangeeth, where we learned how to prepare traditional Sri Lankan dishes. We would like to extend our special thanks to Executive Chef Dinesh, whose culinary expertise and direction are behind all the thoughtfully crafted dishes we have enjoyed throughout our stay. To complete the experience, we enjoyed a boat ride along the Mahaweli River with Mr. Adikari from Nature Trails, during which we spotted a variety of native birds and wildlife while taking in the spectacular riverside scenery.
Beyond all those we have named, there are many others whose care and dedication have contributed greatly to our experience, and we are deeply thankful to each of them for making our stay in Kandy truly delightful.
We would wholeheartedly recommend Cinnamon Citadel to anyone seeking a relaxing and memorable getaway where they can enjoy the captivating natural beauty of Kandy while experiencing outstanding Sri Lankan hospitality.
