"Wondeful Views and Food at Cinnamon Citadel Kandy"

We stayed one night at Cinnamon Citadel Kandy during our honeymoon. The hotel is clean, well decorated, and offers wonderful views over the Mahaweli River. The staff are very welcoming and always at your service. The room was spacious and comfortable. The food at dinner and breakfast was varied, with several traditional dishes on offer, and was delicious. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cinnamon Citadel Kandy. We would especially like to thank Pabadu and Meepawala for the beautifully prepared room and the special decorations.

"Not maintained and poor management"

Equally disappointing was the management and overall guest experience. Throughout our stay, there seemed to be a lack of attention to customer concerns and a noticeable disconnect between what guests expect and what was actually delivered. Professional hospitality is not just about providing a room—it is about ensuring guests feel valued, supported, and well looked after. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. What made matters worse was the apparent lack of urgency when issues were raised. Rather than receiving proactive assistance or meaningful solutions, we were left with the impression that guest concerns were not being treated with the level of importance they deserved. This was particularly frustrating given the premium rates charged by the hotel. The property itself has a beautiful location and stunning views, which initially created high expectations. However, attractive surroundings cannot compensate for poor room maintenance and ineffective management. A hotel’s true quality is reflected in its service standards, attention to detail, and commitment to guest satisfaction, and unfortunately, these were areas where our experience fell short.
