The Ocean Pearl

I had booked at The Ocean Pearl as my father was in a wheelchair and wanted to have good services and a shower that allowed him to walk into rather than a bathtub. I initially picked this hotel as it was supposedly one of the best in Mangalore, and it did not disappoint. The staff were very friendly and always willing to assist. The room was very clean and modern (probably with way too many light switches). The housekeeping staff were excellent and always attended to anything we needed. The breakfast was ridiculously good. I think I gained 2-3 kg from that breakfast everyday alone (because I was overeating). I felt the travel desk was lacking a bit. Any taxi we inquired about was much higher than the going rate and except for booking one to go to a wedding, we generally avoided booking through the hotel. The hotel was lively every night with events and functions - it is the premier place for locals to have various celebrations. The restaurant on the 1st floor was very very good as well and worth checking out for at least one dinner. Overall, it was a very good stay and I highly recommend it to anyone with the caveat that this is Mangalore so don’t expect something like the Shangri-La hotel.

I arrived there around 2pm and the room was not ready when I got there. I requested at the time of my reservation a king bed in a non smoking room. I got 2 twin beds in smoking room. The room they finally gave us was clearly a smoking room. They eventually upgraded us but after a long, frustrating day of travel, waiting more than 30 minutes for the right room was the cherry on top of a frustrating day.

Friendly staff, helpful and responsive. Front desk manager went out of the way to provide free ride to the airport when the Uber i requested did not show up. Good people good food

The hotel is very plush and beautifully maintained. The food is excellent. However the front office people should be trained to handle guests. They came across as very rude and nonchalant.

Ocean Pearl even though an old property has been very well maintained, the size of the room and bed is very large with good storage space. Eating joints around like Machali are a good find, the hotel itself has beautiful restaurants with very good range of cuisines. Definitely a place to stay when you are in Mangalore. The hospitality is great.

We have stayed for 3 nights for local sight seeing. Excellent hotel and facilities.

Great service and a lot of variety to choose for dining. Location was very close to the biggest shopping mall in the city. Overall, an excellent stay.

Ocean pearl is the only decent hotel in mangalore. while the hotel itself is very decent the staff desperately needs training in the front office. if you have a request you need to repeat it 10 times and recheck for their understanding to be sure it will get done. Food is average and very oily. rooms are decent and clean
