Hotel Tugu Malang

The hotel is very old worldly with all the facilities. The staff were very helpful and the food fantastic. The cultural areas were interesting with antiques and old photos. The hotel is central and the double glazed windows and door stopped most of the noise.

Incredible staff. Couldn’t have done more for us. The ambience of the hotel is relaxing and welcoming. Couldn’t recommend enough.

An absolutely beautiful hotel, packed with antiques with a chance to have a tour and explanation by the lovely guest services manager. All staff very polite , friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. A delicious afternoon tea every day in such lovely surroundings. The restaurants were opulent and had an amazing choice of foods ( loved the farmers bread at breakfast) A brilliant massage offered by the hotel was just what we needed after travelling Rooms very comfortable and cleaned beautifully every day.

We arrived late afternoon and were pleasantly surprised by a tray of local delicacies that accompanied a much needed cup of tea/coffee, delivered to our room. Daily high tea featuring local delights was complimentary for the guests. We had flowers and a fruit basket daily in our room. On the bed, we found a postcard with a personalised note of greeting for us. Staying in the hotel was a feast for our eyes and palate. The decor and antiques reminded me of the home of a rich family in colonial times. The hotel food was tastefully presented. The kitchen used fresh local ingredients, many sourced from their own Kawisari plantation. We enjoyed excellent quality food cooked according to the requests of the hotel guests. The hotel provides many activities e.g. recipe sharing & cooking demonstration, visit to the owner's Kawisari coffee plantation, cultural shows, etc. The bakery in the hotel produces homemade bread, using authentic Dutch recipe since 1930. A visit to the nearby central market was an eye opener because of the abundant fruits and vegetable produced in this rich, fertile, volcanic land. A visit to the Kawisari plantation is a must. I gained so much from learning about cultivation of organic coffee, rubber tapping, and the flora of the island. I will certainly recommend friends and relatives to stay in Tugu.

Our room is unique and gorgeous, filled with history and charm, yet unbelievably cozy. The food? Like a home-cooked feast made with love. Every little detail here is thoughtful, making you feel truly special. The crew always greet you with smile and call you by your name. So special! Staying at Tugu isn’t just a getaway—it’s an experience of warmth, culture, and comfort that stays with you long after you leave. Can’t wait to come back!

What a fantastic hotel! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming because of all the amazing authentic features, furniture and incredibly friendly staff. The hotel is conveniently situated in the hart of Malang, just a short walk from the train station. Trips into the city are easily made, because of it’s ideal location. The rooms have a very warm feeling because of the beautiful wooden floors and furniture. The restaurant offers a wide choice of food for both breakfast and dinner and is of very good quality. For those wanting a bit more variety, plenty of restaurants are just a short walk away.

We spent 3 nights at Tugu Malang in January 2025 and found it to be the perfect base for visiting Mt Bromo and it was within walking distance to the Chinese temple and local flower markets. They served a complimentary afternoon tea each day with various local treats and a range of herbal teas which were delicious - most of the treats came from the neighbouring bakery that is also worth a visit. We liked the furnishings in our room and the toiletries were top notch. They provided fresh fruit in our room on a daily basis and we had fresh flowers which were a lovely touch. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel contains a treasure trove of artworks and antiques and well worth an exploration. We loved our meals at the hotel restaurants, especially SaigonSan. We also enjoyed massages at their spa and highly recommend. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

In one of your trips to Malang, if it's more than one, a stay in this hotel is a must! Eclectic, historical to the max, great tasting food in every single restaurant they have on location, and super friendly staff from front to back! The beds are super comfy, the on-site Spa is home to classic décors!
