Hotel Tugu Malang

This is an outstanding Hotel! By far the best and nicest hotel we have stayed at in Indonesia. It is filled with fascinating antiques. The staff bends over backwards and the food in the restaurant was excellent with a huge selection. One person in our party had to go to the hospital and the hotel could not have been more helpful accommodating. They let us feed the fish and the rooms even have a beautiful bathtub.

The Tugu Hotel in Malang is a beautifully preserved piece of colonial history. The building has been maintained in its original style, with even the furniture staying true to the era. At the same time, modern amenities such as televisions and air conditioning have been seamlessly integrated, ensuring a comfortable stay without compromising the historical charm. The attached restaurant is a standout feature, offering refined Indonesian cuisine that goes far beyond what one might expect from a typical hotel restaurant. The dishes are a true culinary delight, showcasing the richness of Indonesian flavors. The staff at Tugu Hotel are exceptionally professional, helpful, and genuinely warm in their interactions, making every guest feel welcome and cared for. The highlight of any stay, however, is the daily tea time from 4 to 6 PM. Guests can enjoy a variety of teas accompanied by traditional Indonesian treats such as lapis legit, onde-onde, bika ambon, katjang rebus, and more. This delightful experience adds a touch of nostalgia and indulgence to the already extraordinary hospitality. Tugu Hotel in Malang is not just a place to stay—it’s a journey into history, culture, and exceptional service. Highly recommended!

The safest, warmest and traditionally beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. Excellent food. All the staff treated me like family. I also had a few safety issues where the staff helped me a lot. It is easy to understand that heads of states have stayed here for many decades. Even now after months I miss that place and the staff.

Need put a brighter light in the room

Overall the stay is very good. The hotel environment + design is very unique and unusual. Special mentioned the front desk Ms Anita and restaurant Melati Ms Ratina for their friendly and extreme good service rendered to us during the stay.

The physical structure is magnificent and in excellent condition. The service is top quality. The staff almost all speak English and go out of their way to give directions and solve problems. There are two restaurants both serving fresh, delicious dishes.

A jewel of East Java. Staying at Tugu is an experience in its own right … with an internationally important art collection on display, a feature pool, afternoon tea, a fine cocktail bar and dining options on site. Truly the most attentive staff and helpful staff. My one suggestion is to better inform guests of breakfast options available to them … although priced differently (but still reasonably) the a la carte is a substantially different offering for European guests compared with the buffet. An all round exceptional and memorable experience.
