Top tips; 1. Don’t go 2. If you do go, when you have a bad experience, incident etc make a Formal complaint at the exact time. 3. Be prepared to feel completely unvalued and that whatever happened was your fault. 4. Be prepared to feel have you been given false information about what the hotel and services offer.

Da vegetação cuidada, apesar de a ilha ser muito seca. O recinto do hotel é muito agradável por isso. A tranquilidade do local e a proximidade da praia. A simpatia da generalidade dos funcionários. Outros, nem tanto (estranhamente, na receção, onde quase nenhuma funcionária esboça sequer um sorriso).

A sobremesa tem demasiados doces e a fruta é pouco variada e, por vezes, inexistente. As sopas eram normalmente muito espessas. Na parte final do período de almoço e jantar estavam muitas vezes reduzidas a uma espécie de papa, quase sem líquido. O serviço de toalhas na piscina. Segundo me disseram, avariou-se a máquina de secagem, pelo que a demora na troca de toalhas era grande. Nesses dias (após uma hora de espera), só consegui trocar as toalhas diretamente na receção do hotel.

Da limpeza dos quartos, fazem a cama sem trocar lençóis e fronhas , teias de aranhas , WC já encontramos muito mal limpo, etc

We stayed there in February, I am hopefully going to share with everyone a unbiased honest review of the Melia Tortuga Beach Resort. Accommodation. We stayed in one of the two bedroom apartments, which was very spacious. Kitchen area had a kettle, a microwave, an iron and board, a washing machine a locked cupboard, an oven and hob a sink and drainer and plenty of cupboards and worktops, but only two mugs and two glasses. (Probably because it's all inclusive) Two bathrooms one with walk in shower and the other shower over bath. Toiletries included were shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Towels were changed daily, but only if you leave them on the floor(it took us a couple of days to work that out) So ignore the negative reviews that said the towels weren't changed those people obviously never worked that out. Bedroom one had a super king size bed bedroom two had two single beds. Both had ample storage for clothes and plenty of hangers. The bed was changed daily(unless you kept your do not disturb sign up for most of the day) which we did once(by accident) Lounge area had a large flat screen tv which had several channels, not much English though and several apps . I was happy to use the you tube for music videos. A large settee a coffee table and a table and four chairs. The balcony was large and had a small table and chairs. The restaurants. The main buffet restaurant had plenty of choice to offer and the food was very nice. Breakfast was always very busy as it was the only one open at that time lunch and evening meal was much less busy. Note for Melia : Get a new toaster for breakfast the one you have is useless.(Easy fix) There were four A La Carte Restaurants and you could book one every night if you wanted to, yes you read that correctly every night but you do need to book at least a couple of days up front. The beach restaurant(La Cabana) you could also use this at lunch time and the view was lovely. The pool bar had a daytime buffet much less choice here but ample for by the pool. There were three other restaurants, Pasta Nostra (my personal favourite), Aqua Nikkei(least favourite) and the Secret Garden(nice but there should be something other than salad for a starter). The pools The pools are not heated so if you go during the winter it will be chilly, the pools are kept very clean but they are in need of a re-tile at some point, Note for Melia: sooner rather than later if you want to avoid the critical eye of the negative reviewer. The bars The pool bar was always busy but I never had to wait too long. The bar staff were always extremely friendly and put love into their cocktail making. Nothing was ever too much for them. The same could be said for the other three bars( beach bar, sway bar and late bar) though the late bar was never busy. My favourite cocktail was the Caipirinha. Alcohol was definitely not watered down here and was of good quality. Entertainment. There was some daytime activities, I didn't join in with these but people seemed to be enjoying it. There was entertainment at the main stage every night it was varied and I enjoyed all the acts that performed. But if you are going for more than a week expect to see them all again. I was happy to do this as I liked them anyway. Overall we really enjoyed our holiday here it was a beautiful beach although some days the waves were too high for swimming. There was snorkelling to be had which we did a few times and if you wanted to go into Santa Maria there was a free shuttle. Our best day out was the Shark Bay, Salt Lake and Blue Eye and you should really make sure that you do this when you come to Sal.

This was my second stay here. Chose this hotel mostly for the 2 bedroom apartment. Plenty of space and 2 bathrooms. The grounds are well maintained although could be lit better at night. Choice of swimming pools to use and never had a problem finding a sun lounger at any time. Plenty of loungers on the beach also, but the sea is often too rough to swim directly in front of the hotel. Hotel is a short trip from the airport. Free transport is available at 10am and 11am with 4pm return to Santa Maria. A taxi back was 5 Euro in the day and 6 at night. The small botanical garden 20 mins walk from the hotel is a nice morning out. The buffet restaurant is very good with plenty of choice, was always very, very busy at breakfast and an over spill room was in use. It was much better at other meal times. The on site restaurants were all very nice with different types of food, the Italian was my favourite. These have to be booked in the morning in the late bar, we did not have a problem obtaining a booking for dates/times that we wanted. The All Inclusive drinks were great, again plenty of choice. Staff at the pool bar were a bit hit and miss and not always the friendliest but the Sway bar was great, staff there always professional and friendly. We did encounter a few small issues, neither of the 2 TVs in our apartment worked. Tried to use the telephone to contact reception and it never worked, we were told it is an ongoing problem. We had an issue with a blocked toilet but it was attended to immediately. As others have said the room cleaning was hit and miss, sometimes 10am, sometimes 5pm, sometimes very good, sometimes only just adequate. Bedding not refreshed in 7 days. Towels were replenished when requested, but this was often much later in the day, one occasion we had to ask at reception 2 times and still did not get towels, i emailed the hotel in the end as did not want to walk back to reception. Tea/coffee provided in the room along with bottled water which was replaced. Small bottles of water are sold at the bars for one Euro. A few things could be improved such as fixing TV and more outdoor lighting to make the stay perfect

Currently staying at the resort, advertised as a 5* however the room doesn’t reflect this. It’s outdated and not cleaned throughly, bed sheets haven’t been changed and we’re on night 4. Have asked reception 3 times so far to fix the AC, this still is not working. Also had to request clean towels twice since being here, even though they removed the dirty ones. The food is good, the spices restaurant especially. Good variety and options for food at pretty much all times of the day. On the other hand, we went for lunch La Cabana severed us pink chicken so we had to send it back and eat elsewhere. Wouldn’t return due to the rooms itself, but on the whole the food, all inclusive amenities and staff are good.

La nourriture est surtout destinées aux touristes Anglais. Les soupes avec du piment, difficile de donner à des enfants. La variété nulle, le seul poisson com pouvait manger c’est du thon. Les menus sont écrits en anglais,
