"Not 5 Star, Management have lost interest in customer service. 2/3 star at best"

2.0

This was no where near a 5 star hotel, at best a 2/3 star. We booked through Easyjet with the VIP Level (first mistake but not explain later). Should also be aware to add £30 per person airport tax and £30 hotel tax which easyjet didn’t tell us. We were informed by easy jet of building works next door, to be honest these were not an issue, what we were not informed of was the constant drilling near the “quiet pool” daily refurbishing one of the apartments, and the digging up of the piazza area which again is unsightly and dirty. When we arrived at the hotel the check in was very basic we had no information and was just handed a sheet with a QR code, we were then taken to our room, the key card didn’t work so we were provided with a door code by a cleaner. I have to say our two bed apartment was very nice, clean and well equipped but very dated, the bathroom was very small with no storage space. One day we came back to find and electrician in our room checking the door code. Staff – the staff are the most ignorant, rude and unhelpful, they could barely acknowledge you when serving you, it was like we as guests were an inconvenience. This was the majority of staff not a minority, it was zero customer Service of note was the older waiter in the beach bar who was the worse by far. All the staff want to do is laugh and joke and shout at each other or looking at their mobile phones. There is clearly a lack of management and leadership to check the quality of service. In the morning staff would walk around the gardens shouting and laughing with each other nor regard to guests in any way.I came away from this holiday felling like I had been an inconvenience to the hotel rather than a valued guest. The beach front area looks like a scrap yard of sunbeds with them laying all over the place, the staff cant be bothered to move them tidy into position and most of them are broken and dirty. Food – the most inedible overcooked/reheated process rubbish I have ever eaten. There we thankfully had VIP level so at night we ate at the other hotels speciality restaurants. Of note CASA Nostra the pizza was so bad we were nearly sick. We both suffered DV on day 6. The main “spices” is like a food hall with no windows open and people crammed in. There were only 400 guests when we stayed, god help if they had been at 800 capacity. LA Cabana beach bar we had lunch and dinner, Menus falling apart and very little on them food pre prepared in bulk and tasteless. The restaurants in the most have the menues on a QR code on the salt shaker, but the menue advertised isn’t the same as in the venue with many dishes missing. We were lucky to have VIP, but the only VIP bit of this hotel was the late bar so we had to walk to the other hotels to access everything else. VIP is worth it but don’t do it in this hotel. However even though we had the VIP band we were never offered premium drinks in this hotel and when we started asking for them we had to sign a form, which made us look ridiculous. All drinks are served in different plastic glasses and when you have a beer two sips and it's gone. H+S – the grounds are falling apart and all walkways are uneven if your elderly or have a pram then this is not safe for you. The pools are freezing cold and the tiles are missing all over the place and cut your feet. The staff also race around in motor buggies and at night you have to really watch yourself as they don’t care, I literally had to shout warning that I was on the path and they just laugh as they pass you. The other two hotels were so much better and if we had been staying longer than 7 days we would have asked to move. We just used the VIP levels to make our holiday nice. This is a poorly described hotel which is far from and no where near 5 star. If you read reviews all of the good ones are by 1 review people so work that out. Stay in SAL and the MELIA hotels but I promise you not this one as it is dreadful, management have lost interest and control of this hotel. Avoid at all costs.

"Not as good as it looks."

2.0

When I first arrived the hotel looked good. But after being here for nearly two weeks have seen enough not to want to come back. For a holiday that cost £3000. Pretty bad No matter what time you go to the pool snackbar the food is cold and left out all day. Although there are lots of staff available who could cook the food fresh and probably save wastage by doing so, most of it is from breakfast leftovers. In this heat that's a No. they just seem to be hanging around chatting. The main restaurant is no better no matter when you go a lot of the food is cold.Bar staff are no better just chatting amongst themselves while customers waiting to be served. Music played all day by the pool the base is loud reverberates in rooms. At night a grand piano is played so loud in a small space at main bar. You have to go to the smaller pools or to the beach to get a bit of peace. But then no drinks or food. Paths around hotel are uneven and dimly lit at night. Quite a few guests are being ill my son was violently ill last night. I brought some stomach colming meds with me and have given some away to other guests. There is not a lot to do here. Went on a tour round the island the highlight was the sharks. Feel sorry for local people trying to eek out a living on a small island. At the same time as holiday companies making all the money. I have read most of the reviews and glad that some people have enjoyed their holiday. This was my birthday treat. Very disappointed.

"Disappointing Holiday"

4.0

Meliá Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa – Disappointing Stay TUI rating: 5★ Our rating: 2★ We are not usually ones to complain, but our experience at Meliá Tortuga Beach was very disappointing and well below five-star standards. On arrival, our room door was broken and left unlocked. Due to a faulty phone, we had to visit reception several times before the issue was resolved, and on day three we returned to find our door left wide open by housekeeping, creating a serious security concern. Basic amenities such as tea and coffee were missing and took two days and multiple requests to arrive. The hot water initially ran brown. When reported, we were told this was “normal,” which we later learned was incorrect. Housekeeping was inconsistent, with beds made but dirty sheets, towels, and dusty surfaces left untouched. Customer service was very hit-and-miss. Staff at the pool and beach bars often appeared disengaged and poorly trained, with little awareness of queues or basic hospitality standards. The lunch buffet at Pasta Nostra was particularly poor, with cold burgers and undercooked fries. Facilities also need attention. Pools had loose and missing tiles, the gym was outdated and unsupervised, and the spa facilities (sauna, steam room, hot tub) were underwhelming and poorly maintained. The “Quiet Pool” was not quiet, and food and drink areas were poorly managed. On the positive side, TUI staff were helpful arranging a room change on day 3, the spa treatments were enjoyable, and some bar staff (notably at the Sway Bar) were friendly and attentive. Most evening dining was very good, and the Lemon Shark excursion organised through TUI was excellent. Overall, the negatives outweighed the positives. The hotel needs investment, better maintenance, and significantly improved staff training. TUI should seriously reconsider awarding this property a five-star rating.

"Visit Tropical Delights juice bar!"

10.0

Excellent hotel with very friendly staff. Wide variety of food, well worth booking the a la cartè restaurants on an evening, La Cabana was a highlight. For drinks you cannot do better than the Tropical Delights juice bar run by Edmilson! Amazing service and amazing drinks from a brilliant gentleman. Antonio in the front of house staff is a great point of contact for anything you need, and very friendly! Overall a good trip.

"Great tour!!!"

10.0

Antonio booked us a trip for an island tour including salt lake, lemon sharks. Antonio is a lovely guy who gave us a great price. Amazing day, picked up by Altion in a mini bus, great guy with lots of knowledge of the island and a great sense of humour. Thoroughly enjoyed the day, a great personalised service 10/10

"Enjoyable holiday"

8.0

Stayed here for a week over the new year and we quite enjoyed it. And for anyone returning they have just replaced the sun loungers with brand new ones. We had a large family room which was spacious though outdated and I’ve no idea how the fridge kept working with a door practically dropping off.but it was clean and comfortable. It was cleaned daily to a decent standard and nothing stolen.. The buffet restaurant is something I cannot comment on as I didn’t use it personally a little too chaotic for me but the wife said the breakfast was plentiful. We did upgrade to vip and with this our evening meals were booked for us via WhatsApp also using restaurants in the other hotels which was nice, food was good and mixed. Pools could do with some maintenance, main pool has music and a bar where I never had issues being served and kid’s pool nearby,we tended to go to the quieter adults pool though some parents brought their children here and don’t realise that the screaming and squealing maybe their kids having fun but is selfishly annoying. Beach is nice with plentiful space and a chance to buy over priced tack of the lucky/lucky man. I recommend visiting the bob marley bar and bikini beach but you have to pay for your drinks so bear in mind. Overall had a good week, weather was good and wasn’t ever cold. I can understand why some won’t take to Cape Verde it’s no Spain or canaries and it’s not 5 star. But I’m glad I’ve experienced it.

Then the great reception team Kleiton has a great team they can't do enough for you. My room was so clean and there was a little welcome gift I thought this was a great touch my room was cleaned daily and new towels. Lovely room looking over the pool. William from the entertainment team was there he also remembered me. He works so hard and great at getting people to join in the daily activities. The food this year was the best it been always a great choice and and food always hot. "Only need to do this holiday once."

4.0

No good if you have mobility issues. Paths all uneven both in hotel and outside. Good variety of foods but beef really tough broke my tooth on it. Hotel was no help. There is nothing around for miles. Hotel bus takes you to Santa Maria for the day. But couldn't find much to do there. Wish I'd only booked a week at the most. Was approached by someone who said he worked in hotel. Supposed to take us to his mother's shop. My son was overcharged for small picture. I'm usually not taken in but the people here seem very poor. It's very windy here but when it drops it becomes really hot. So had a few nice days. I have wanted to come here for years. But will not come again. There are better more weather friendly places nearer the UK. Must admit they keep the hotel and pool clean
