Meliá Tortuga Beach - All Inclusive

Hi I will write my review today 1 day prior to departing basically because I will be extremely busy once I return to the UK. I will write my reviews purely on our experience and will be constructive criticism as a pose to complaining. I will go through each area individually. Reception on arrival we were greeted both with professionalism and a friendly smile,the check in process was explained and carried out very professionally,but most importantly made us feel welcome 10/10. Our room very clean bright and airy (445) our cleaner was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed ,we had a small issue with the air conditioning in the main bedroom,this was reported at 4 30pm and fixed by 6pm the same day 10/10. We used the quiet pool as close to our apartment,I have seen some negative comments regarding the pool and unfortunately I have to agree sadly the pool needs a refurb tiles missing etc but we were told by management this was part of the plans moving forward and a convenient time was being discussed also some sunbeds are not really fit for purpose,but again informed by our rep that the hotel had a large quantity on order and were waiting delivery 7/10. Main restaurant again I have read negative comments about the buffet restaurant,personally I feel them to be unfounded breakfast lunch and dinner we found excellent choice of food,but sadly the excellent choice of food was let down by the unfit hot plates sadly the great food was mostly only warm when you ate it,my opinion is that the great food the chefs are preparing they are being let down by management by not refurbishing equipment when it needs to be,secondly the toaster at breakfast is not fit for purpose it at best warms the bread new toasters required asap 7/10. La Cobana restaurant our favourite place to eat and drink food staff service 11/10 And a special mention for Telma such a lovely young lady always greeted us with the biggest smile and very professional in service . We didn’t try any of the other restaurants as these were not to our culinary taste personal choice . Staff in general throughout the complex all 10/10 we were always greeted with a smile and a ola. In conclusion some small issues as mentioned but the big question would we stay at the Melia Tortuga again 100% yes we had a fantastic 2 weeks see you again soon

From when we arrived at the hotel till the time we left was absolutely brilliant we come for our 46th anniversary and so glad we did we had a lovely room over looking the quite pool (although I dont mind a bit of noise ) the hotel staff where lovely and very friendly we did eat in all the restaurants we found them all nice but loved the beach bar and restaurant where we spend most of the time we found the drinks and food really nice we couldn't find anything we didn't like we had a lovely time would definitely return

Les habitacions, la qualitat del menjar i la beguda, l'animacio....no es corresponen a la categoria Meliá. O hi inverteixen una mica o es un desengany pel client. Per no tenir erem 4 i ens posaven una tovallola i a sobre ben trencada

Funcionários muito simpáticos e prestáveis. Quartos amplos e limpos. Variedade de restaurantes com comida ok. Foi-nos permitido usufruir de todas as comodidades do hotel antes do check-in e após o check-out (piscina, bebida e refeições).

Hotel classificado como 5 estrelas, mas na realidade não corresponde ao padrão de um 5 estrelas tradicional. Pratica preços muito elevados para a qualidade que apresenta. Estará ao nível de um três ou quatro estrelas. Piscinas a precisar de reforma urgente pois os azulejos estão a cair. Muitas toalhas de piscina sem qualidade e rotas. Quartos também necessitam de ser renovados. Em relação à alimentação no buffet, apesar da comida de um modo geral ser saborosa, precisa de mais variedade pois acaba por ter pouca escolha.

Have just returned from spending a week here and the only negative I have was the staff at the pool bar were not very welcoming it felt like we were invisible .Our room was perfect over looking the quiet pool if you wanted a sun bed there you had to be there at 1st light lol! Drinks were definitely water down especially the cocktails , we done all the restaurants and we found the Secret Garden the best .Entertainment was good on some nights and the Beach Bar in the evening was very chilled and the staff there were lovely .We did have a problem when checking in we had to wait over 1 hour for our room where everyone else was getting theirs but it was fine the staff around reception were lovely as well as in the restaurants they were all lovely except the pool bar .

We came mid sept and would come again if price was right or we needed a total chill. We like to visit historical places and walk some evenings none of this was available here. We did have a wonderful holiday because holidays are what you make them. The weather of an evening was much warmer than we were advised. No need for jumpers jackets etc which we were advised. I didn’t even need a shawl. The towels were white and clean some fluffy others not. The only way to get them changed was to dump in the bath. The bathroom was cleaned daily. We were upgraded to an apartment with a non working kitchen not a problem as we were AL. A lounge dinner and 2 bedrooms. We had 2 TVs neither of which worked properly they both froze often. We had no kettle on arrival but 1 was brought quickly. Our patio was horrid floor was like cobbles so shoes needed at all times and had weeds. The table there and in dinning room were not cleaned in 14 days! Bars: I drank mainly cocktails as vodka was gross and rum was sometimes so strong I couldn’t drink it. This was due to depending on who served you and which plastic glass you got. Rarly did you get a glass. The tall thin test tube plastic glasses were mental size wise. U got beer in them and wine glasses. Only jacenta spoke to us the rest weren’t interested in English people. The best bar was the beach 1. Restaurants: spice is Buffett for all meals best food I’ve had anywere for vegetarian fish different veg I didn’t hav to live on salad. Breakfast especially was fab. Secret garden: I found the food to oily here so we only went once. Beach restaurant: was lovely for real food lunch time as well as evening and had a real holiday feel. More should be made of this area. A weekly bbq Mayb. Aqua: omg nightmare no veggie rude staff. Told me to go to spice and bring food in there. Pasta norsta; 1st visit I got wrong starter but it was much nicer than the correct 1 I had on 2nd visit. Staff the friendlest of restaurants at night. Good for late breakfast and lunch. Pools: omg some days the large 1 was so so loud. Swim up bar was great once you got served as staff doing 2 bars at once. Smaller pool quieter. Both need new loungers many are broken shades need replacing as well. Some more holes than shade. Towel boy needs to be there longer and 1 needed on beach to. Also lots more needed it got busier our last few days and hard to get any bed b4 that u could get but not always area u wanted. Beach lots of different seating areas. U need to go right to cove to swim in sea. Looky looky men a pain some days but polite and friendly and will go if u say no thanks firmly. Shows: circus very good. Singer rubbish. Others ok. More seats and tables needed people bringing restaurant and reps chairs out. Thanks to receptionist who got me local coins for my collection out of her own purse.we hadn’t managed to get any in 2 weeks. And to Valencia manger who sorted getting me a coffee machine as there was no coffee for rooms and sorting the litter outside our room. This could be a amazing hotel with a little update and care. Trips: We did turtle watching which was an amazing experience the guides were so knowledgeable. If you are thinking of doing it bring black or dark clothing I didn’t and ended up wearing evening trousers and a serong looking a butter as that was only dark stuff I had! Be prepared to walk to find a turtle laying. We did an island tour visiting the salt plains lake a fishing villiage the blue hole which wasn’t there due to time of our visit. The salt lake was a weird feeling but after my skin felt great and the mozzies stoped biting me. We did star gazing with a meal the telescope was so powerful we saw a cluster of stars shaped like a butterfly I never know there was such a thing. Food was ok. Lastly we did paddling with baby lemon sharks u need good trainers for this as it’s rocky but guides are there to help. We used holiday extras to book as the easy jet rep was useless and we’ve used them b4. We went into St Maria 1 day had lovely fruit juice on the beach but it was small and people try getting you into their shops constantly. We were meet at taxi drop of by men who insist on being ur guide but just take u to their family stall. We got a taxi to the pirate ship restaurant u see when on trips. The food was amazing drinks tasted fab. Staff were great fun we spent afternoon in the sea and trying out the different sunbathing area. U need to arrange for taxi to collect u as they don’t stop there naturally. We paid €10 for taxi which was well under the advertised price. I hav reviewed this separately.

We visited as a couple to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We wanted an adventure outside Europe something a little different to our usual holidays and that’s exactly what we got. Reception Very friendly and welcoming on arrival information quickly given to us. Room Very spacious, two bedrooms, two bathrooms a kitchen/living room and balcony.cleaned daily and towel change great location in between the two pools, room was great. Bottled water delivered daily to your room . Pools/Beach We only used the quiet pool and yes a few tiles are missing that didn’t affect our enjoyment the sunbeds were comfy and relaxing. Beach looked fab we enjoyed relaxing by the beach bar we didn’t sunbathe on the beach as we didn’t wish to be hassled by the beach vendors . Restaurants/Bars Great choice we tried them all in addition to the main buffet . The speciality restaurants have three evening sittings we never had an issue booking any. We enjoyed all the food available it’s a daily carvery, and themed nights in the buffet. The highlight for me was the seafood it’s fab and I loved the choice available. Pasta Nostra we visited twice and loved it both times. Great choice of cocktails and drinks at all bars. Staff were fab always smiling and happy. A special thanks to Heidi for arranging our anniversary dinner and Fred in guest relations what a great guy! Mosquitos I took a bag full of sprays etc because I knew how much they love me. In total I had 9 bites which caused me no issues. We never opened windows and doors. We used room plug ins and sprays and in the evening the deet sprays it worked for us. Santa Maria We used the hotel shuttle bus and visited the town. The beach is amazing and the shops sell a variety of items. Not so keen on being approached to buy items constantly. Island Tour We booked via reception and what a brilliant day it was. I wanted to see the real Sal and wow we visited so many places. The highlight for us was swimming with the lemon sharks it was fab. Hotel staff welcomed us back and checked everything had been ok a nice caring touch. It was great value for money. We went for an adventure and that’s what we had combined with a lovely hotel , fab food and staff and a relaxing experience. We did suffer stomach issues sadly and that did impact our stay. We would conclude the holiday was exactly as expected. Please remember this is Africa respect the people embrace their lifestyle and be very aware of how powerful the sun is you can easily burn. Thanks Tortuga for a lovely holiday we will remember for a long time. Go and enjoy we did.

We just returned from a marvelous week in paradise! 🇨🇻☀️ Location: The hotel is about 15-20 minutes away from the airport by car/bus which is very convenient. It is also close to the main touristic town in the south of Sal - Santa Maria. Rooms: We were travelling as a family of 4 and had a great suite with 2 rooms. It was spacious and clean. There are some things that need to be refurbished, but overall everything was in a good condition. Pools and beach: There are 4 pools at the hotel - the main pool, a small pool and 2 children’s pools. We were close to the smaller pool which was quieter and very convenient to get to for a nice swim. Both of the adult’s pools have some tiles missing, so they definitely need maintenance. The beach is clean and the water is crystal clear. The best beach for swimming is a bit to the right of the hotel, close to the Bikini Beach Bar. Bars and restaurants: There are a few bars and restaurants and a buffet at the hotel. The best coffee and alcoholic drinks were served at the lobby bar. There is a swim up bar at the main pool which was very convenient and staff there were also very nice. The theme restaurants are fine but nothing special. We liked the buffet the most - the food was tasty and there were different options to choose from. The staff was very respectful and friendly; thanks to Fred who was always welcoming us warmly for lunch and dinner, great customer service. The waiters at the buffet were always polite as well. Animation: I personally liked it, there was always something to do. The animation team were always ready to accommodate and make adjustments in the program, but generally during the day, there was stretching, pilates, Zumba, aqua gym, and water polo. In the evening, there are dancing shows and live music. Luana, William, Ruben, among others from the entertainment team made our stay fun and memorable! Overall, great value for money, we’d definitely come back!
