Ryokan Kohro

Une expérience à ne pas rater! Dormir dans un Ryokan est un incontournable. Si vous avez la possibilité d'ajouter aussi le diner traditionnel c'est encore mieux. Le personnel est aux petits soins, très gentil et professionnel. Seul bémol est l'insonorisation avec l'éxterieur sinon pour le reste tout à été parfait. Une magnifique expérience

OH my god!! We loved the experience! A bit expensive but definitely worth it and we'd definitely go back! We booked a japanese style room with tatami floor and futons and also dinner and breakfast included. They explained us everything about the room. The woman that brought the dinner to our room was so nice. She made a huge effort to explain how to eat the meal because she didn't speak english. The dinner amazing, also the breakfast. You need to like japanese food, otherwise you should eat outside. The room was big, the onsen was also very comfortable

We had to translate almost everything with google translator because many things were only written in japanese. Only the staff from the front desk spoke english. We also recommend the hotel to put an english translation for the basic things like, the rules of the onsen and the dinner and breakfast menu. I know it's part of the experience but we would've appreciated even more

I feel sad giving this property 2 stars because the staff was SO nice and the property is in a good location. The main problem was the unbearable smell coming from the bathroom. It smelled so bad like raw sewerage that we couldn't even sleep even with the toilet cover closed and the bathroom door closed and the door to the sleeping area closed. It was that bad. I told staff about it twice and they just came up and sniffed around and shrugged their shoulders. The sleeping mats were terribly uncomfortable (that was expected) but the pillows were unbearably uncomfortable. They also only don't give you freshly washed blankets they just cover them with a fitted sheet which felt so gross if god forbid you ended up moving around and wake up with your face in the uncovered part (if only wraps around half of it). Cool experience but it just wasn't for me.

NOTE: This is an authentic ryokan with a full ryokan experience. If you are not looking for the full traditional experience, this might be less of an ideal option for you. If you want that experience, you will be handsomely rewarded. Have your google translate ready, because not all staff speak English, but that's about the only possible negative. The room was gorgeous, the location is perfect, near Nishiki market and surrounded by shops and restaurants. Get the breakfast option, as it's a cherry on top. We will be returning to Kyoto in the future, and we will most definitely look to book another stay here.

The Onsen was very good, the room was roomy and spotless. We loved the meals in the room and the service was flawless.

The futons were very thin, it felt like we were sleeping in the floor! As a westerner (and the mom) it was a bit tough on me!

Room was a bit small but service excellent

The rooms are clean and made in the traditional way. We had so much fun! The public baths are nice and sleeping on tatami floors was an experience we were so happy we got to have! It’s a great place to stay! The staff were so nice and helpful and the dinner experience was so worth the money! We couldn’t believe the quality and variety of food and the experience is one we will never forget!

It’s a little walk to the station but that’s kind of nice because it means it’s in a somewhat quieter area.

The hotel is right in the center of Kyoto very close to Nishiki market Ryonkan style hotel but I think the price is too high compare to the service you will get Only public bath is available no an onzen

Very committed staff who gave excellent service! The ryokan breakfast and dinners were so delicious! They really put in so much efforts to make our stay comfortable and memorable! In fact they have many senior staff who worked tirelessly and provided their best service, making it an invaluable stay experience for us! Give my full respect to them! Thank you Ryokan Kohro!
