The Merchant House

Lovely position behind Quay Road and easy walking distance for 9pm ferry to Guernsey. A warm greeting from owner who provided a packed breakfast as I had to leave early for the ferry. Unfortunately the room was small but adequate for one person.

Excellent little b&b. The host was so welcoming, like a home from home. Very convenient to the quay & high street but also very peaceful. Great breakfast, quality produce with lovely homemade bread. Would highly recommend.

Great landlord and breakfast

The hotel was very central and close to the High Street and the Quay. It was very convenient during our stay and we could go to our room whenever we wanted a little break.

Excellent place to stay overnight. The breakfast in the morning was really good. I’d recommend to anybody wanting to stay here.One note of caution if you have an issue getting up and down stairs that may be a consideration?

Set in a quiet street just behind the quayside, and very near to the high street, bus garage and train station for easy access to the surrounding area, this boutique hotel is small, cosy and comfortable. With the personal touches that the friendly owner provides. My ensuite room was clean and perfect for my two night stay. I felt completely at home, with my own front door key to come and go as i pleased. David was a great host and we chatted like old friends in his kitchen diner as he prepared a great breakfast for me. He is very informative about the area, and gave recommendations for dining and places of interest. I would be happy to stay at The Merchant House again.

Took a few days away to recharge my batteries. I could not have picked a better place to stay. I really appreciated the love time and effort that David has put into his beautiful Georgian residence. An exceptional host, helpful, friendly and a great conversationalist. The time I spent there was refreshing and calming, the sea air invigorating and the breakfast was cooked with care and looked pretty on the plate and was delicious. David’s homemade bread deserves a special mention as really enjoyed it. Oh and a hello to Bentley who is quite a character! A lovely stay and one I would like to repeat.
