Hotel Manoir Atkinson

Marcello, the owner, helped us enormously with getting around, picking sights to visit, outside excursions and restaurant choices. His local knowledge and willingness to share his passion for Valparaiso truly made our stay memorable. The location of the hotel, the charming comfortable room, the delicious breakfasts and the beautiful view were also amazing. We look forward to returning.

There was some street noise, mainly music and some barking dogs which is to be expected in urban travel

everything was perfect. an old building lovingly maintained. only 7 rooms.

The moment we got out of our Uber car we were met with a view of our Hotel Manoir Atkinson which was the quintessential representation of charm of Valparaiso. The front wall of the hotel is a cheerful,colorful painting in a style which they call here a tasty “graffiti “ . We in were met by a young man, Marcelo, who took us to our rooms. Our room was on the second floor and was a combination of very old and very new. There were two leather chairs probably 100 years old (which added to the charm) and a very new, spotless bed, plenty of outlets, very clean small bathroom with an excellent shower and a magnifying rotating mirror on the wall and oversized towels. There is a wardrobe with a safe and a chest of drawers in the bedroom. The building is wood so the floor creaks a little which again adds to the charm. Besides, people seemed to go to sleep at a reasonable hour and the place became completely quiet. Marcelo and Gloria speak very good English and no small request is too much for them. The first evening Marcelo told us that there is a roof terrace but we had to manage a set of very steep metal stairs to get there but what a MAGICAL experience! We arrived there while it was still light and were met with a 360 degree magnificent view of the sea on one side and the city hills on the other. As the sun was setting the hills starting to light up gradually until they became like a Christmas tree. It was magical. We had to tear ourselves from the view to go to bed. Ahh, the piece de resistance…. Breakfast! It consisted of fruit, a glass of flavored water, jam, butter, two small griddle cakes, scrambled eggs, and on premises freshly baked typical Chilean bread. And I almost forgot, one of the best cups of coffee. One tip, if you do not think that you can manage the steep, metal spiral case to the roof , ask for the room on the third floor. It is not large but it comes with a terrace which faces the hills and you can see the lights.

Extremely cosy hotel in a house with a history. The host was very friendly and helpfull. Tasty breakfast. Superb views from the terras.

Great location up on the hill surrounded by street art. Marcelo was really helpful, especially with retrieving my friend’s delayed baggage from Iberia. Lifesaver! Breakfast was great. I had a room on the top floor which was lovely and light, had access to a terrace with great views.

The welcoming feeling from the start. We loved Marcelo and Gloria. The hostess with the mostest. ❤️ Extraordinary breakfast....a must stay!!

There wasn't anything that we didn't like.

The family that runs this property are wonderful, friendly, helpful and amazing people. The husband cooks a wonderful and beautiful breakfast. The location is the best. There are only 6 rooms and consider yourself lucky if you book one.

honestly, everything was superb! we even ended up extending our stay because of the level of comfort we felt at this hotel. everything is done with such detail and does not go unnoticed, especially the breakfast!
