Ocean Echo Inn & Beach Cottages

We stay regularly due to easy pet policy. Clean, friendly. No ocean view but a quick little walk down the road to the beach

I wanted a room away from the hussle and bussle of most other Santa Cruz hotels and found Ocean Echo. What a find. Situated in a lovely, quiet neighborhood next to the beach. We stayed in the Captain's Quarters, which was more pricey than I'm usually willing to spend but it was worth it for the occasion and amenities. Spacious, clean, and very comfortable. We loved having our own private deck with great view of Sunny Cove Beach and sleeping peacefully with the sliding door open. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast as well, which we enjoyed on our deck. Will be my go-to spot for future Santa Cruz stays.

Wonderful stay! Beach access was almost like a private access point. So beautiful and easy. The foot washing station was thoughtful and perfect too! Love this hidden gem 💕

The ocean view from the upstairs deck is great (see pic) and you can hear the waves. Super friendly staff. Large room with great kitchenette, and spacious bathroom with fantastic water pressure. The cottages, with their private decks and barbeque grills, look amazing.

They pack rooms into every corner of the property, and our room was in the parking lot (see pic). While they email and text and message you non-stop to offer assistance, it's automated - no one ever responds if you do ask for help. Our coffee maker was broken, and "breakfast" (see pic) is fruit, plastic-wrapped bagels and English muffins, and packets of cheap oatmeal (no protein!) on a bookcase (in a stairwell!). We laughed to keep from crying. The nice attendant admitted they always run out of food, so WTH? While super close, the beach is not picturesque, and better suited for surfers and dog walkers. Access involves wading through brackish water (see pic). Not their fault - just not the luxe beach property advertised.

Great location, value, comfortable, had a full kitchenette

We really enjoyed our stay at this cute set of cottages. The location was excellent, the room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was nice. We had 6 adults in the largest cottage and it worked out great (keep in mind there is only one bathroom, but we managed it fine). Since we were there for a wedding, the upstairs deck was very central and accessible to all of the guests. The little beach (Sunny Cove) right down the street was super cute - I grew up near Santa Cruz and went to many beaches there and never knew about this beach. We would definitely stay again!
