the bed was comfortable

we paid extra for the King suite, and 90% of the window view was of the front entrance pylons and roof structure. No coffee or tea facility in room, and the hotel gave a BS propaganda reason that it was to reduce waste plastic... How about having real cups in the room... But instead we had to go to the breakfast room where only disposable cups were available.. The breakfast was fine if you do NOT value your health. Not even real milk. Oh, and the hot chocolate powder marketed as "Swiss Malte" had 10 ingredients, most of which if you read up on are bad for health and not even needed.. Why not just 2 ingredients....cocoa and a quality sugar? This large corporate profit driven hotel chain with 6,000 hotels don't care about you or I. They care only for our money, cutting costs and increasing profits. Please let that sink in. I'm done with these soul less hotels... more AirBnB for me

Clean and comfortable

The outside light was right below the window and looked like daylight all night in the room. They need room darkening shades in rooms above the exterior lights.

I had trouble with the wifi, but I didn't ask for hellp.

Went to visit our daughter and her family and booked a room in Des moines. We don't typically stay at the same place every time but from now on, we will. This Holiday inn is very nice and we found zero things we would improve on. From the check in, til checkout everything was perfect. Our room was very comfortable and spotless. We didn't use the pool but it was a popular place for some of the other guests. The free breakfast is the usual stuff and although it was very busy, everything was well stocked and very good. To top it off its in an easy to get to location, there are several restaurants nearby, and the staff is extremely friendly. From now on, this is our place when we visit des moines.

The swimming pool water is not very warm for an indoor swimming pool. The hot tub was warm which is great. However, the hot tub had way too many chemicals. It was burning our eyes.

The location is near where we needed to be for the weekend.

This room was disgusting. The bathroom reeked like an ashtray and if we left the door open the whole room smelled like it. We were staying with our young kids and had to wash all of their belongings when we got home because they stunk like a bar. The hotel staff was unresponsive and told us it was a know issue. They also offered to "spray" to mask the smell but that was the best they could do.
