Cloud Forest Lodge

This was a birding trip, and the birds are fantastic both on the extensive property and in the local area. Rooms were large and comfortable and the staff were all fantastic.

My Daughter and I did a girls getaway. The hotel was fantastic. The huge fire with chairs surrounding it was a perfect place to sit and read a book. Although it rained every day, the hotel offered boots and umbrellas to use. The setting is so serene and the employees are very friendly and helpful. They even offer turn down service…we felt like queens. I would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay in Monte Verdi.

Bird lovers will adore the dining room seating with hummingbirds, toucans, orioles, motmots and more easily viewable all hours of the day. Rooms are spacious and hot water in showers is fantastic! Thought we would have view from porch but alas no… it’s a lovely outdoor space but we didn’t use it much. Wood fireplace in lobby / dining area is wonderful way to warm up and dry out after hiking the were cloud forests. Observation deck provides stunning views of the sunset and lake with awesome cloud formations. We rented four wheel drive and it was reassuring to have it driving up the steep dirt road to reception. Staff is friendly and helpful locating guides for cloud forest tours and more. Pre-ordering breakfast was a nice touch to make sure we had food ready at 630a to make our 7a tour start time.

Great property, well maintained. Wildlife all around. Roads in the area are terrible, but that's not the hotel's fault..

Beautifully kept hotel High up in the cloud forest , zip Line on grounds with a few nature trails to walk around Lots of wildlife Including humming bird feeders outside the kitchen so you can see these beautiful birds whilst you are eating as well as a lovely log fire in the evenings Staff very helpful and friendly - food nice although menu was the same as last year ! A lovely stay at a lovely hotel

This hotel is lovely - takes you on very bumpy roads to get there but worth it. Only breakfast was included here but what amazing food they served. We went to a nearby zip lining experience one day, which was an adrenaline rush which I’ll review elsewhere, but you could do it from the hotel,too as well as woodland walks and nighttime walks to see frogs etc - sadly we got SO wet zip lining that we had nothing suitable to wear for a rainy nighttime walk but people saw lots of frogs that night. There is wildlife wandering around the hotel and hummingbirds and lots of hummingbirds put on a special breakfast show. He food here is gastronomic - not expensive for what they service and the service they provide and quality the best we had in CR.

From the moment we arrived, it truly felt like we were in the middle of a rainforest, amongst the clouds; it was magical! Exceptional views, immaculate landscaping, and very attentive staff & waiters. The path to the restaurant feels as if you are walking through a treehouse! Our bathroom was huge, the bed was very comfortable, and the patio was spectacular; I was initially concerned there was no AC in the room (because I like it cold at night) but I slept great! We spent every evening in the restaurant sitting around the cozy fireplace enjoying cocktails before dinner. Every morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and loved watching the hummingbirds from the balcony. This place is a hidden gem literally off the beaten path. I would advise not to drive at night as the roads can be rough, bumpy, muddy and winding; give yourself plenty of time but it is worth the drive! Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse meets FernGully vibes; A Must-Stay experience!

I absolutely loved the dining experience here! The food was quality was excellent. I will say they do need have ventilation in their units as the condensation makes everything totally wet. Also, the drive up is unpaved and very bumpy. Get an all wheel drive rental. I do still recommend this place and I would stay here again.
