We had an amazing time here! My Spa therapist, Abbie, was very lovely and talkative. Which helped as it was my first time getting a treatment. And our bar tender, Amy, was also incredible. She was also lovely and her cocktails were delicious! Also, we had a Scottish waitress in the restaurant, who was also incredible, unfortunately I don't think we caught her name. Thank you all for a wonderful time!

Avoid this place! It is so run down and filthy . Complained and go no where . Whole experience was terrible. Never going back

Extremely Disappointed with Old Thorns – Would Not Recommend We had high hopes for our Dinner, Bed & Breakfast stay but it was a huge letdown: • Serious cleanliness issues: Toilet in our room still had faeces from previous guests, hair in the showers, no conditioner, plus rust and mould. • Tired & run-down spa: Mouldy ceilings, rusty handrails, broken tiles, non-working facilities. We left after a short time. • Poor food & service: Cold starter we couldn’t eat, disappointing carvery, and slow/dismissive service. We tried to speak to the manager but were told to just email. • Weak hotel response: Offered only a 30% future discount we didn’t want, ignored our photos, blamed us for not reporting issues on the spot (despite raising them with staff and Reception) and said that a beer and early check that had been offered was already substantial. The gap between their marketing and reality is massive. We’ve now escalated to our credit card company for a chargeback. Very poor experience overall. Think twice before booking.

Below par - third & last visit as cost-cutting savings are at the expense of the customer. In its former glory, Old Thorns used to be a gem of a wkend break with a lovely dining experience, now you're needlessly clustered together like battery hens. Regardless of the treatments received at the Spa, you're not issued with a robe unless you cough up £20, £10 of which is non-refundable. The whirlpool is cold, the jacuzzi is overcrowded, the foot spa is still broken, etc. and the staff aren't really accustomed to hospitality. The staff in the Sports Bar would, like the rest of us, rather be somewhere else!

A nice welcome at reception. Service in the bar was perfunctory and the food average. The waiter took the plate before I’d finished. The service in the restaurant in the evening was better but the food was not good. I ordered an Irish coffee but they couldn’t find a glass! The bed was dreadfully hard. Sadly the spa was not clean. Hair in the showers and on the floor. This place has gone down hill, we won’t be going back.

I enjoyed a relaxing distress massage with Renee, she was very attentive, explained everything fully. She applied the perfect amount of pressure that’s left me feeling chilled and ready to take on the world again. I was also allowed time in the relaxation ocean room while I waited for my friend. Which is normally only allowed during spa days but as it was empty they allowed it. What a beautiful way to spend a morning. Thanks Renee

A lot of amenities and places to eat

Room was old fashioned, very dark and windows overlooked a walk way where staff were passing, as it was hot the windows were open and could hear their negative chat. Beers coolers were all hot, staff advised we had caught them on a bad day, so no beer on tap or should I say warm beer on a hot day. Overcharged for drinks to then be given the refund in change, although paid on card. A lot of rubbish on the terrace on the floor. Checked in and checked out quickly, to stay elsewhere, have never had to do this, a lot of people complaining on this day, so as they stated hopefully just ‘caught them on a bad day’.
