Safir Hotel Doha

I was not impressed at all with this hotel. These things may seem trivial but I travel alot and comfort is very important. It ruined my experience. I arrived late off of a 17 hour flight and arrived around 1am. I checked in and had no help from anyone to take my luggage or explain where anything was. In fact I was literally pointed to the lift. When I got to the room I discovered the requests I had made (which were confirmed to me by email as ok) were not in this room. I paid for a bath and a 'city view' which it had neither. I went back down to the front desk only to be fobbed off. I also needed a power adaptor which I was told could not be provided (first hotel ever to not lend me one). I asked if one of the staff could possibly lend me one of theirs as I had to call home to let my family know I had arrived ok. Eventually one of the staff obliged. I later discovered that there was a plug in the room under the desk that could take my plug. If they had just showed me it would have saved alot of stress! There was no bath as promised by this hotel ( I would not have booked here is I had know this). Overall I found the staff for the most part disinterested in the comfort or pleasure of my stay and even a little rude. I was to stay up to 7 nights depending on my schedule. I had pre-booked 3 nights and extended but chose to leave to another hotel. The room itself was only ok for the money. The pictures look way better than the actual hotel. Housekeepers were nicer than anyone els

Likes - Great prices for room service and food of good quality, Staff very welcoming and attentive , Room service delivers in timely manner and house keeping good attentino to detail. safe in room. Made me a cake for my birthday which was a lovely touch. Dislikes - Air Conditioning in room sounds like a jet taking off, Safe has a plug socket inside(great idea) but does not work, Pool furniture (loungers etc) worn out, No where else in hotel other than pool area (which is Female only on Saturdays) to relax in the sun. FYI 25QR for airport transfers

It was a pleasant stay! Staff of the hotel surprised me with a cake on my birthday, it was a nice touch and much appreciated

The staff were great and always helpful. There are some nice Indian and kebab restaurants nearby.

Safir could use some updates to infrastructure(water drains) and staff. Employees were very timid throughout the stay which didn't make for a very welcoming environment. Once, I asked for a plate and knife from room service and was told that there was a charge of 10 Qatari Riyals. When asked what type of policy this was, they ended up waiving the fee. But I was told it was a rule for guest not buying food from the hotel. Housekeeping are not 100% thorough when it comes to cleaning(don't move furniture when vacuuming,dusting). But when asked to do something, they were quick to get it done. The hotel has seen its day, but for a short business trip, it works.

Had a couple of hiccups which the staff went out of their way to make up for. Great place to stay for an overnight stop. The meals at the restaurant were very big and very nice.

Despite guaranteeing booking with credit card payment, Front office did not locate the booking and it took almost 2 hours for me to get inside a room

I've checked in for 15 minutes only, then had to checkout. The hotel is so gloomy and Claustrophobic.
