Hotel Piena Kobe

more easily accessed from the sonnomaya station than shin kobe, the hotel is of quality. dont miss the breakfast.

The hotel is located close to Sannomiya station the heart of the city activities. The hotel was good with very courteous staff and the coffee/tea corner was an added attraction. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

Our small double room was surprisingly roomy compared with our hotels in Osaka and Kyoto. As with most hotels in Japan, it is very clean and well maintained. The location is superb. It is only 15 minutes away from Former Thomas's house and 10 minutes away from the Sannomiya JR station and all the shopping malls.

Some deskclerks didn't have basic English skills.

I've stayed at many modestly priced hotels in Japan, and Hotel Piena was clearly one of the best. My (single) room, while not huge, was much larger than the rooms I've had in Tokyo, Kyoto and elsewhere. So, while most budget Japanese hotel rooms can hardly fit a bed, my room at the Piena was spacious enough to also hold a small table, a comfy chair and a desk. The bathroom was roomy, too. Meanwhile, the hotel's decor is quite charming and romantic. And the location, while not quite ideal, is within reasonable walking distance of major train stations, jazz clubs, and the tourist attractions in the Kitano neighborhood. Recommended.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, well priced for my needs. The lobby is sleek and the staff very nice. The only thing which might give some people pause is that the decor of the hotel is fairy tale-themed, and thus definitely aimed at young women. My cousin even noted this when she was helping me drop off my bags. But that is just a footnote, and otherwise the hotel was more than satisfactory. I would definitely stay here again.

Friendly pleasant staff.Clean, quiet. Floor space in room is limited (can't sprawl a lot of luggage out). Nice coffee bar in the lobby (and a good bakery very close by on the corner). I was surprised that I needed to make a reservation to have breakfast - but maybe that indicates it is popular and good. I never made it to eat there. I would recommend it. The room is small and the bed was very firm (as I like it).

If you're used to Western hotels, you'll find the rooms small (Japanese hotels rooms were in general), but the place was immaculate and the room was comfortable. The location couldn't be any better either - it's right between the inter-city train station, the main subway station, and downtown. The price was right too. I'd definitely stay again if I find myself back in Kobe.
