Guest house Halvat

I booked last-minute based on the recommendations of this site. While the hotel is bare bones (small shower, plain beds), the service was excellent and accommodating, the room was sparkling clean, and in an ideal neighborhood. Superb value.

Hotel Halvat provided a wonderful experience in a great location for a great price. The hotel was easy to find. We took a taxi from the airport for a reasonable flat rate, but it would be simple to reach by tram (near Bascarsija stop). The host, Ema, was tremendously helpful throughout our stay. She booked a tour for us and helped us navigate the tram to the bus station when we left. The hotel itself was beautiful and spacious. Laundry service is available for a reasonable fee and was returned to us within 24 hours. Breakfast was reasonably priced (4,5 KM each) and delicious. The location is excellent as well, within easy walking distance of Stari Grad, numerous shops and restaurants, and the historic Latin Bridge. Overall, this was the best place we stayed on our trip so far, and Ema made our experience in Sarajevo much easier and more enjoyable.

This place is a treasure, located in the most interesting part of town and staffed by a friendly, hardworking and intelligent staff. I have absolutely no complaints: room was clean, breakfast delicious, and service was extremely attentive (the staff generously helped me navigate a weather-delayed arrival). Great WiFi. Many folks around town, including an American ex-pat I met, know this place and regard it very highly. As an English-speaker who knows absolutely NO Bosnian, I was especially grateful for the staff's impeccable English. (And something tells me that soon, Japanese guests will be equally impressed!)

We booked this at the last minute after deciding on a quick trip to Sarajevo. Everything about it was fantastic! Highly recommend having breakfast in the hotel - made to order and delicious!! The one downside was that the hotel does not take credit cards, so make sure you have cash with you. I will definitely stay here again though!

From the owner to the all employees are the perfect and professional about what they are doing. Hotel is quite, clean and comfortable. Specially breakfasts are very good.

Our stay at Guest House Halvat was truly lovely! The owners and staff are very welcoming and accommodating. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and only a short walk to the Sarajevo's old quarter and pedestrian shopping area. The breakfasts are amazing ... better quality than one would find at a nearby restaurant. We initially chose this guest house because they are pet friendly. However, whether you are traveling with or without a pet, this hotel is a gem!

We stayed one night at Guest House Halvat in Sarajevo. Their location is very close to the old town and city center. Friendly desk staff provided maps and detailed info on nearby sights. Guest House rooms are well furnished, very clean and comfortable. It has a nice breakfast room with impeccable service. We would have liked to spend more time at Guest House Halvat and Sarajevo but had scheduled a long drive back to Croatia next day.
