I would like to give special thanks and appreciation to our server at the SPICE restaurant on Tuesday January 20th. Her name is Cristina Leyver. She was very attentive and she also has wonderful sense of humor. She made our evening very special. Please recognize her as a valued employee. Ted & Linda Room 2206

"Terrible"

6.0

We travelled to Secrets Huatulco January 5th-14th, 2026. The staff were amazing, the preferred lounge was a box with no windows, poor bartending, the steak and chicken were so tough you couldn't eat it. All guests complained about the steak throughout the resort. We have never seen dinner buffet done under heat lamps in an outdoor atmosphere, terrible food, not fresh. Food was not appropriate for this resort. There were fights around the pools to get a chair, not enough seating for pool space. The beach all the chairs were crammed under a bamboo cover like sardines and way too far from the ocean. Nobody at the beach to move chairs, you're stuck with what you got. Beach activities, two sail boats for the entire resort, not enough kayaks, we have been to many resorts throughout different countries, we thought we would splurge on a Secrets resort for the money we paid, not worth it. All guests on this time period were not impressed with the food, there was no entertainment at night through shows. Not just us, the complaints were heavy with everyone at that time. Sorry to have to write this review, but it was not a good experience.

"5 Stars a stretch beware of Tripping Hazards"

4.0

This was our first trip to an Adults only resort. Not that some kids are an issue but there are always Those Kids!!! Nice change. Short drive from Airport but lengthy checkin!! NOT GOOD after a 10 hours commute. Rooms are spacious and clean a/c kept the room at desired temp. The pool must be cooled as with the warm temps you would expect it to be warm but it was refreshing without being cold. We experimented with the Preferred Option but it seemed worthless as anybody could get most of the optional so called perks. Meals in the al-a-cates were okay the Chef cooking show at Spice was worth while. At least twice a week the set up a large group buffet in the Theatre or Restaurant level area which the food was quite good. The seating wasn't as fold up chairs and intimate tables of 10 people was all that was offered. They don't offer much for fresh salads as the lettuce was always full leaf not chopped and scarcity of fresh vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli or bean sprouts. If you have any issues with tripping on uneven concrete you will have to beware. There are many places that need repair but haven't been. With a resort built on a hillside with stairs everywhere you go I cannot believe they don't have any handrails!! Only one we saw was to the lower shopping area. I guess they don't want to someone to fall and the shop miss out on a sale!! Even the stairs beside the elevators that are to used in case of emergency don't have handrails. The three main elevators to get to the beach are old, tired and in need of replacement. Only 2 ever worked while we were there 14 days. The doors can take up to a minute to close even if you push the door close button. Then the capacity says 13 people but when 5 people got in sometimes the over capacity light would come on and if you didn't see it you could be there all day waiting for it to move. 13 people must be elf sized. The lengthy checkin was due to everyone has to be screened by the Vacation Club reps to attempt to make a sale. There was only evening entertainment in the theatre maybe 3 times a week the shows were there were really good. The entertainment group were very good many daily activities from stretching, volleyball beach and pool to bingo and archery. Really good breakfast can be found at the Tamarindo starting at 8 am. Coco Cafe is great for fresh made coffee from beans, a bakery treat or ice cream. The Mexican workers are the real 5 Star part of the resort. They do a very good job of keeping the resort clean and functioning and well stocked. It is my Pleasure!!

"Not Returning"

4.0

b eng from Canada, I am not a complainer when going somewhere hot in January but he experience was a significant disappointment. As frequent guests who have stayed seven times at Secrets Puerto Vallarta, we were very much looking forward to our recent stay at Secrets Huatulco. From the outset, the overall condition of the property was troubling. Many walls were chipped and visibly in need of repair and repainting. Even the glass elevator appeared neglected; despite being there for nine days, it had clearly not been cleaned, as visible smudges and sweat marks remained for days at a time. This lack of attention to detail was surprising and disappointing for a brand positioned at the Secrets level. Beyond the physical condition of the resort, the dining experience was equally underwhelming. Much of the food was often inedible, leaving us to eat most meals in what felt more like a cafeteria than a resort restaurant — overly air-conditioned, noisy, and sterile, with little sense of ambiance or warmth. What stood out most, however, was the general lack of hospitality. Despite our loyalty to the Secrets brand and multiple prior stays at other locations, there was no sense of recognition or special welcome. On the contrary, we often perceived a sense of coldness from staff, who frequently appeared more engaged with one another than with guests. One particularly upsetting incident occurred while attempting to get a taxi. Because we had requested the cab through a different bellman, the bellman assisting us seemed visibly irritated and allowed three separate cabs to pass before arranging transportation for us. This was something we have never experienced before and found deeply unprofessional. The one exception to this experience was housekeeping, who were consistently friendly and did an excellent job maintaining our room. Overall, the property felt tired and far below the standards we associate with the Secrets brand. Given our expectations and prior experiences ay other Secrets, we anticipated much more and were left feeling quite disappointed.

"Celebrating a birthday in Huatulco"

6.0

Overall good experience. But physical plant at Secrets Hualtulco is aging and in need of updating, and food quality, as well as variety could be improved. That said, service is outstanding; rooms are clean and functional with amazing view of the beachfront; and the townspeople of La Crucecita and Santa Cruz are the nicest, friendliest you will meet anywhere. We felt very welcomed.

"Second Time - Still Great Experience!"

10.0

This was our second time to Secrets Huatulco. The first was in May a few years ago - I would not recommend that time of year because very humid and uncomfortable. This time of year, however, was excellent weather - warm but not overbearing humidity. As other reviews have said, the facility can use some updating, but they are working on it. The one bedroom suite we stayed in was in excellent condition and looked newer. Where the facilities could use some work (mostly cosmetic and a bit dated in places, but other places within the resort looked newer) was made up for by the excellent staff. They were very attentive and friendly. If you are going, take some pesos to tip because they really deserve it and are grateful for it. This is something we didn't think of the first time but made up for it this time! If you are looking for a resort that isn't quite as crazy as other places in Mexico, this one is a great choice.

"Total R&R"

10.0

Outstanding location. Staff amazing. Julio and Miradeli are the hardest working servers (in the ‘quiet pool’ area) we ever experienced. They hustled non stop and never without a smile on their face. Most of the time a drink would show up without having to order it. They added significant value to our stay as we truly felt looked after. Meals excellent. Great to see some capital projects underway as well as ongoing operational maintenance. Our second year for 10 days; next year we’ll be back for 2 weeks.

"Truly meets the definition of "A hidden gem" --perfect vacation!"

10.0

This is a beautiful resort in a calm and private setting. Everything you want in a vacation: professional service delivered with warmth, immaculate, well-maintained rooms and lovely public spaces, a selection of delicious dining experiences, and one of the most exquisite spas I have ever visited. You can hear the surf from your room's balcony, enjoy the bay snorkeling, kayaking, or sailing -- the water is warm and the sandy beach is clean and easy to navigate. It's simple: you ask the ET team for the equipment and off you go. The pools are amazing, and there are activities and entertainment, including live music to dance to in the evenings if you wish, or quiet areas to relax if that's your vibe. Secrets Huatulco recreates the magic for those of us who grew up at the beach, or wish they did. We can't wait to return!

"Good service, tired hotel."

8.0

This was our second stay at Secrets in Huatulco. Like the time before the staff was marvelous. There was a bit of confusion when we were checking in. It almost seemed like they were not ready for our shuttle other than that the service and the employees were wonderful. A special shout out to Ronaldo, our wonderful server on the beach. We were impressed with his level of service even before he went above and beyond to return something I had accidentally left at our beach chairs. It was not expensive but had sentimental value. Thank you, Ronaldo. ♥️ Another shout out to Yuliana at the longe. Your smiles and friendliness was greatly appreciated. She knew my evening drink from day one and made sure I never went without. ♥️ Evening entertainment was good. The dance/entertainment crew put on some really good shows and the outside entertainment they brought in was good. The hotel is looking a bit run down from our last stay. Tiles missing in the pool, broken tiles around the steps, loose hand rails on the stairs. Food was a bit hit and miss but I have found that to be at most all inclusives I've stayed at. I never had something I didn't enjoy but you do need to take the menu description with a grain of salt. Evening buffets often had luke warm to cold food. We met a lot of people who have been staying at this Secrets routinely and they also noticed that the resort is starting to look tired. It is the level of service that will keep us returning BUT Hyatt, do better to your employees and patrons and look after the resort to match the level of care and kindness your employees deliver.
