Old Riga Boutique Hotel "Vecriga"

The location was perfect, close to the attractions in the old town and to cafes and restaurants.

Firstly, we asked for an early check in which was confirmed. However, on arrival we were told our room was not ready and that they had only agreed to an early check in if it could be arranged. We were asked to come back at 3pm, so I felt I had been misled. Secondly, we reported an issue with the toilet and the receptionist initially said someone would come in 10 minutes. No one came. We were then told the maintenance man had gone home. The toilet was continuously running water and couldn’t be flushed. We were told we could use the public toilet ( down the corridor and down stairs) overnight. As I had no bedclothes this meant getting dressed to use the loo. The toilet was fixed the next day, but this wasn’t a helpful resolution. On leaving the hotel, we asked for compensation and we’re told we would not get anything “as the toilet really wasn’t broken”. I was astounded to effectively be told I was a liar. I repeat that no one came to check the toilet when we reported it. Even if the maintenance man had gone home, someone else could have come to look and then if it was an easy issue to fix, it could have been. Thirdly, although we had a TV, the only English speaking channel was Disney, no BBC World News or CNN. Overall, we felt that this is an old fashioned hotel that hadn’t kept up with the times and with poor customer service (one of the receptionists was very friendly, the other I would say was officious).

Hotel old style in linea con la città facile da raggiungere e vicino al centro storico.Camere silenziose colazione abbondante staff molto attento alle esigenze del cliente check in anticipato se possibile,si possono lasciare i bagagli sia prima che dopo l'arrivo e la partenza.Esperienza molto positiva consiglio vivamente!!!!

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted at first sight by a very pleasant employee, after completing all the procedures, paying for the accommodation and going up to the room dedicated to us, we heard an inhuman sound in the corridor. It turned out that demolition work was being carried out behind the wall / under our window. When we asked the "pleasant" receptionist about the possibility of changing rooms, she replied that there was no possibility ... then I asked to refund our payment, because there was no possibility of relaxing with such noise. Although the payment was made directly to the hotel, the lady, who somehow turned from pleasant to furious, replied that our booking was made through the Booking platform, and there are no refund options there... To our comments that it might be worth informing guests when such noisy work is taking place, the answer was that they are not required to do so, and our problems We had no choice but to turn around and go out to look for a new hotel for the night... The next day we received a message from the Booking platform that acording information from the hotel -we did not arrive , but the hotel was very kind that they would not charge us a "cancellation"/no showing fee...
