Sapphire Garden Townhouses

We had a very short (4 nights) but extremely pleasurable stay a Sapphire Gardens. We arrived after the grocery stores were closed and had been able to organize a few essentials to be available for us on arival - fantastic. The unit was well laye dout and felt like being at home. The location is ideal - a few steps from the beach and from several dining venues with a range of dining experiences. The 20 minute walk to town was easily doable, although a ride is available if preferred. We would easily return for a longer period of time.

Cheap condo. It gives the impression that it is not clean. Beds are awful. Not a good experience. Location-wise is excellent.

Great stay. Was only there for one night but the townhome was a nice typical Bahamas house. Highly recommended. Note- nothing in the Bahamas is 4 star US style accommodations outside a major resort. This is a great typical Bahamas place to stay with well stocked full kitchen and even washer/dryer in our room. I'll def be back.

It was a huge house.We enjoyed there.Great ocean view.There' s no lobby but car rental office upstairs on weekday's bussiness hours. They would drive us to downtown for a grocery shopping or water taxi doc, which was very helpful.You can walk to Jolly Holly beach, it's awesome!!!

We stayed at Sapphire Garden Townhouses for a week. We arrived and were initially pleased. It didn't take long, however, before we became disgusted when we found rodent droppings in the living room and several roaches running around in the kitchen cabinets. The townhouse is described as having a "sleeper sofa" and we counted on that as being a bed for someone in our group. However, there was not one, just a large sofa. When we raised this issue with the lady that runs the place (Ms. Thompson), she became very rude and aggressive. She said there was nowhere to get a blowup mattress on the island and that the couch should be fine. Fortunately, a random worker brought is his personal blowup mattress. She also said they had never had a problem with rodents or roaches before. Based on the number of roaches we found running around, I find that hard to believe. We asked if she would offer us a discount on the car rentals they offered to compensate for the unsanitary conditions. She told us we would need the van, and that it was booked for the week. Oddly enough, the only time that van moved to act as a shuttle for is a few times during our week. Other times, we were asked to sit in each others' laps. We had a group of 7, but when we requested the shuttle, we often had to all pile into a Toyota Corolla and once, the back of a truck. Occasionally, we were picked up in a minivan. The townhouses are described as across the street from the beach. Actually, to get to beach access, you need to walk about a 1/4 mile down the road and across the street, then down a trail to get to a decent beach. On Sunday, we were taken into town via shuttle. We called for a return shuttle, and she said they were closed on Sunday and that we would have to walk or take a taxi. As far as accommodations go, you can find much better places to stay with friendlier people on the island. It put a little damper on our trip to stay here.

This was my first trip to The Exumas after several trips to Nassau. We had a list of activities while we were there so wanted a place to stay that was central and a good base for us. Sapphire Garden Townhouses (also known as Thompson Rentals to the cab drivers) was perfect! Kim and Keith have a great place and were very helpful and welcoming when we arrived. They gave recommendations and helped us call around for activities we wanted to do. It was still slow season but we kept our days full. The townhouse was spacious and well-equipped with a giant kitchen, washer/dryer, living room, dining area, and upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms. The furnishings are all very high quality with none of that cheap stuff you find in many vacation homes. My bed was very comfortable with good linens. It was all clean with extra towels and sheets. The owners of Sapphire Garden also own the car rental place next door so we took advantage of the convenience and rented a car for the weekend. (Tip: Keep Left!) We're already planning for our next visit. There's something about spending time in the Bahamas that stays with you. It's a truly special place with beautiful people and wonderful culture. If you just let the spirit of the islands grab you, and take a slow and easy pace, you'll understand what I mean. Thanks Kim and Keith, we'll be back soon!

We had a family of seven people looking for a vacation spot that could accomadate all of us comfortably and affordable. And that is what we found. Everything was clean, comfortable and affordable. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and treated us like long lost friends. We will go back again and again.

Why not go to the wonderful island of Exumas next time. We did and we enjoyed every minute in the Bahamas. Our hosts were friendly and service-minded. Everything was great! We will come back!
