Hotel Santa Caterina Village Club

The general spaces of the hotel desperately need modernization, but the "resort" part is nice after reconstruction. Avoid the village part though. Food is great, Beach and sea are great. Employees speak very little english.

El desayuno es malo, poco variado y de mala calidad. Hotel antiguo, anclado en los años 60. Se supone que teníamos una habitación renovada pero la ventana era muy antigua y no aislaba y el baño estaba muy viejo. Nada más llegar cobran el servicio de beach club y piscina por todos los días y sin opción de no pagarlo para no utilizarlo. La animación es excesiva, todo el tiempo en la piscina y en la playa están intentando que participes en las actividades. Si buscas tranquilidad, no vayas a este hotel.

This place was just okay for the first 3 days (we had a 8 day stay) Decently clean and convenient. Then we noticed that the food was exactly the same day after day. No options and no variety. The AC broke in my room as of day 2 and by day 4 it was not working at all. Instead of being helpful, the front desk just told me there was nothing to be done. It’s almost 100 degrees with no AC. Haven’t slept in days and they could care less

Room cleaned daily to a good standard. Air con OK. Location within Scalea good.

Breakfast - very poor, selection poor, allocated seating for those on half / full board, left those on B&B in discussion with staff every single morning as to where to sit. Room - balcony felt very dangerous, railing too low and large gaps, not suitable for children. Overall hotel decor was extremely dated, this was obviously a nice hotel when originally decorated / furnished, however all of the public areas are now extremely tired. Lifts - not fit for purpose for size of hotel / number of guests. Could not fit two buggies and two adults, large number of guests using lifts left very long waits to use. Allocated room in building across road access via tunnel under hotel, in theory great idea, but due to lift situation on both sides this was completely impractical, when returning / leaving hotel via walking security staff would not let you enter via pedestrian entrance on correct side, this should have a key card pedestrian entrance and would help alleviate some of the lift capacity issue. Travelling with two small children using two prams - this was very difficult. From pulling up outside the hotel the exterior is tired and looks very run down, parking areas on both sides of hotel are littered with rubbish and old furniture, plastic chairs used to block off spaces - gives a very clear first impression of what to expect from this hotel. Swimming areas - all swimming pools where clean and actually well maintained (compared to other areas of the hotel) however all guests are required to wear a swim cap (including children / babies) this is very out dated rule. for the price we paid this hotel was not good value for money, very disappointing stay. I would not return, and I have already not recommended to family (we have family who live in the area so extended family visit the area regularly).

Perfect stay: welcoming atmosphere with everything you need. Delicious food, very friendly staff, and the resort room was just perfect. The sea was absolutely wonderful!

Profiting from every service - additional fees for pool caps (nothing is mentioned about the necessity of caps), and for the paid beach service we could only settle with the children from the seventh row of sunbeds - very far from the sea, although the rules state that only the first 3 rows are subject to a special fee, very disrespectful behavior of the beach guards, poor breakfast assortment, completely unclear table assignment procedure, morning noise from pigeons, which are located in the shelter

The place is old but very confortable. Sea view room comes with a balcony (if requested). There are limited restaurant facilities and the breakfast is a par below what it should be, in my opinion, but otherwise, overall, very nice place.

Beautiful location in beautiful town, spectacular view, steps from the beach. The town is also charming, lots of things to do, all within walking distance. There is a castle nearby and the mountains nearby are not to miss.
