The property is in a good location. Very convenient and only a 10 minute walk into the town centre. Very friendly staff and a very comfortable stay.

Nothing.

"Great offer/ disappointing outcome"

6.0

We got a good offer for a two night stay and this hotel has a five star rating. When we arrived we were slightly let down by the external look of the building. The extremely crowded and small car park had a full and overflowing skip, parked prominently to one side of it. Whilst we appreciate these buildings are of a great age the outside does look shabby ( for a five star rating) The photograph online actually shows the building from the gardens ,in the rear, so what you see on arrival is rather disappointing. However we did manage to manoeuvre our car into a tight space. The carpark is secure, even ‘though it is just off the busy main road and is charged at £10 a day. Our room was a ‘Standard’ as expected and near the top of the hotel. There are no lifts. Although narrow our room was comfortable, there were three windows looking out onto the garden and the bowling and croquet lawns ,to the side. The room is light and those views are lovely. The bathroom looked modern but that’s where we accounted problems. The only sash window was locked ,with a sign apologising and requesting guests not to try opening it. The controls for the bath were dripping ,although they were definitely off. The tap in the sink made either a trickle or gush of water and needs adjustment and the extractor fan didn’t work at all. We knew where the ‘isolation’ switch was ( in the ‘wardrobe’) We had two different people, from reception, check to see if we were doing something wrong ,in trying to make it work. They couldn’t sort it either. So not being able to open a window there was no way for steam to escape. The reception people told us to leave the bathroom door open . That’s not five star!! There are good things about the hotel. Breakfasts are individually cooked, according to the guests requirements and are ,as rated ,excellent. I’ve never had to choose an exact time slot for ‘attending’ breakfast on arrival, you do here and that’s set for your whole stay. The hotel is well positioned for walking into Bath. The coffee and tea facilities are very good ,as are the complimentary toiletries and of good quality. Maybe our expectations were too high, especially for what we paid but would we recommend a stay here… not really as there are lots of options for hotel, bed and breakfast places etc. in Bath we didn’t look at any reviews, prior to booking, which we will certainly do in the future. That really why I’m reviewing the hotel now. We did really enjoy our stay as it’s a lovely city. And yes we will certainly visit Bath again.

"Fabulous stay in a historic building right in the city centre, five minutes walk from the Rugby"

9.0

Fantastic location with an incredibly view of the rec, friendly staff and a gorgeous, very clean room with a power shower. Exactly what we wanted!

Breakfast was a little expensive so we opted to eat out at a local cafe instead.

"Friendly staff, very comfortable room and excellent breakfast"

9.0

The location is perfect for exploring Bath. Within walking distance of sights and shops.

I needed to work on my laptop in my room so a chair suitable for working at the desk would have helped. I had to use the spare pillows as a cushion on the armchair.
