The Luang Say Residence

The Luang Say Residence is an absolutely stunning hotel and a perfect place to stay while exploring Luang Prabang, Laos. We had such a memorable experience, thanks to the impeccable service, warm atmosphere, and beautifully maintained grounds. The property itself is gorgeous: a peaceful oasis with lush gardens, a sparkling pool, and a serene atmosphere that invites you to unwind. Breakfast is served at the scenic on-site restaurant with views over the gardens. We highly recommend trying the traditional Lao soup: the local chili oil was a delicious touch! Our room was spacious, elegant, and extremely comfortable. The four-poster bed, cozy sitting area, and luxurious full bathroom made us feel completely spoiled. The turndown service and soft robes were just the cherry on top. Every detail was taken care of, from the helpful shuttle service into town to the availability of tuk-tuks, laundry services, and anything else we needed. What truly makes the Luang Say Residence special is its people: warm, attentive, and full of heart. We’re so grateful for our stay and would absolutely love to return someday!

Breakfast is great, with delicious egg Benedict. The location is a bit outside of the historical district, but the hotel provides a free shuttle service. The ride is only 5-10mn to the post office. The hotel is beautiful, colonial-style, with villas spread over a manicured, lush tropical garden. Absolutely beautiful. The suites are large and beautifully decorated, with hard-wood flooring and furniture. Staying there felt like going back to colonial times. We loved the experience. The hotel is very quiet, far from any source of noise.

While we were there, there was a tropical thunderstorm that lasted two days. The storm allegedly caused the wifi network to malfunction, and internet was on and off. The hotel staff gave us a 4G hotspot access point and we could connect, but it was slow. The front office manager told us that this happens every time there's a storm and that they will need to redo the network wiring.

Pool nicht ganz klar aber sauber!

The hotel grounds and overall hotel is well maintained (July 2025). Staff if friendly and forthcoming. Rooms a pleasant and nicely sized. The pool is very relaxing and the a la carte breakfast is of great quality

Other hotels maybe in even better proximity to the old town but it is still in a good location and the shuttle service is convenient and helpful as well. The rooms we had did not had bath tubs as we and one other guests maybe incorrectly assumed but the baths seemed recently renovated though and in a great condition, so this was no issue at all.

The Luang Say Residence is gorgeous, with French colonial style rooms set amidst a lovely tropical garden. The pool is large, clean and well maintained. A true oasis. The hotel is a little far from the centre of town, but free bikes and regular shuttles make it easy.

The cost of booking activities and tours and laundry through the hotel is exorbitant. You are better off organising these matters yourself.

An exceptional stay, both for the kindness of the staff, their availability, the quality of the welcome, and the attention they give to your daily needs. With their tasteful decor, the suite rooms are extremely clean, and the bedding is truly comfortable. We loved the colonial-style architecture and the magical garden. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the pool and common areas are always well-kept. The breakfast is decent, and the dinner menu offers a wide selection. The cocktails are balanced and excellent.

The airport shuttle is too expensive.

Excellent layout that is a stone’s throw to town (use loca app for cabs! It’s wonderful) Large rooms with excellent sheet and comfortable furniture. Wonderful terrace, spacious pool for a small hotel, very cozy and hospitable bar and restaurant Staff were extremely kind and hospitable, and provided excellent service. Such sweet and sincere people; we couldn’t be happier.

The pool water was always cold but really not an issue

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The staff are so gracious & welcoming. The room was large, beautifully decorated and well appointed. The breakfast was delicious and attractively presented. Dinner was a wonderful experience. Top notch food and service! The pool was very refreshing on hot days and we took advantage of the 2-for-1 happy hour offers!
