The Barleycorn

My husband, my 9 month old baby and I stayed at The Barleycorn for one night due to a relatives birthday in the area. The room we had was excellent, spacious and clean. Not a negative - just one thing, our room didn’t have a kettle (it had a lovely posh coffee machine - which wouldn’t be an issue for most people), and I had planned on making my baby’s bottles fresh in the morning which I then couldn’t do. I’m sure if I’d have asked for freshly boiled water from the owners they’d have given me some but we were on a tight schedule and didn’t have time. Breakfast was delicious and the owners were generous in letting us check out when we needed to.

Great location. Rooms were clean and tidy. Delicious breakfast. Coffee machine in the room. Bar had plenty of choice for drinks. The staff were really accommodating.

Room was v.comfortable & quiet - full English breakfast was one of the best we had had - good home produced sausasages/eggs/bacon and evident in the overall flavour - and being cooked to an arranged slot as we sat down. Hosts were friendly / down to earth and there was no corporate pretentiousness - refreshing to stay with straightforward human beings able to have a chat about anything over breakfast. Only disappointment was we half intended to take an evening meal but opted for down the road instead which didn't go well - now want to go back so we can try their farm produced fare. Delightful country pub-restaurant. Great friendly personal service, spotlessly clean, lovely comfortable room with everything you need. Highly recommended. Can’t wait until the rest. And…the TV was properly tuned and screen quality was superb…full English breakfast lovely…

Rooms were in a separate building to the pub with their own front door.
