Staff makes you feel like a king. They all treat you like a friend especially the maid assigned to take care of all your needs. Ours was Masae and she was superb. Last year we had Chihiro and when she heard we had checked in, she came to say hello

We were lucky to get a last minute booking here for the first day of the Takayama Spring Festival. The location of the hotel is prime for the festival. We had a view of the floats being moved throughout the city from the balcony of our room. The hotel is located right at the Nakabashi Bridge where all the action occurs, including the marionette performance. Definitely spring for the river view rooms, well worth it. The room itself, including the bathroom, is small but functional. The sleeping futons were very comfortable and we enjoyed the ryokan experience. The service at the hotel was excellent. I emailed them ahead of time and they had a person waiting at the bus station holding a sign with our name. They also provided transportation back to the train station after our stay. Dinner was excellent and served in the room. The breakfast was served in the dining room and we were given a choice of Japanese or Western fare. The English spoken by the staff was the best we experienced in all of Japan. Takayama is definitely set up for tourism but it doesn't feel overrun. A very charming town and well worth a visit.

A great hotel, right next to the river. The full ryokan experience including dinner in your room, and an on-Sen on the roof. Comfortable futons and bedding. Choice of Japanese or western breakfasts.

Wonderful stay with warm and friendly services from the staff. Free shuttle service pick up from train station if you call and arrange was a bonus and the full board service was great. Delicious Japanese breakfast and dinner prepared with careful attention to our specific taste and they are attentive to our needs. Hotel also had a wonderful onsen in house and so it was a real treat.

Quaint, very close to old houses and within walking distance to shops, morning markets, temple. Ryokan staff were most courteous and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay most comfortable. The dinners were delicious and because of the hospitality, we feel very at home. I highly recommend staying at this ryokan.

Good location. Excellent staffs. We checked out on Monday morning, the lady staff asked where are we going, i told her that we're going to a guesthouse. They made an effort to show us how to get there and arrange the guesthouse to pick us up. The hot spring bath area provided skincare, even peeling gel. The hotel provided everything that you needed. I didn't need to open my lugguages.

The staff was waiting for us at the roadside and gave us a very warm welcome. We were pleasant surprised to find our names printed at the doorway to welcome us. A japanese lady served our dinner in our room and explained the dishes to us. It was a memorable stay for our family. Also, the hotel staff gave us a ride to the train station after seeing we had many luggage with us.
