"Nice hotel, clean but long walk from train"

6.0

Great room, clean, good food and fantastic view. Front office is worst I have seen. The customer is not the priority when at their desk.

"Nice quaint hotel"

6.0

Very nice hotel, clean and situated in an amazing area. However the rooms are very small and the hotel doesn't do room service. The sauna is nice though.

"Absolutely Amazing!"

10.0

What a gem! We found this place by accident and were utterly amazed. The room and facilities were incredible. Clean, fresh, and ever detail thought of. Robes, slippers, sitting areas, flat screen TVs, crisp linens, beautiful bathrooms, the list goes on. The owner and staff were overly helpful and pleasant. The food here is out of this world. Chef Michael makes an incredible steak, schnitzel and vegetable ravioli. Their Hugo recipe is world class also. Stay away from the house wine though as I don't think they go through enough to keep it fresh. This is a must stay place in Oberammergau! We only booked one night but ended up staying two because we were so pleased.

"Three Strars Don't Do This Place Justice"

10.0

This small hotel is an absolute gem and three stars doesn't really mean anything, other than the star ratings are not really designed to deal with small boutique hotels not in a big city. Hotel Arnika is fabulous and I hesitate to tell you all about it since I want it to remain just as it is. This spotless, bright, and airy hotel - maybe 30 rooms total - sits in the Ammer valley in the Bavarian Alps with a million-dollar view of some of the most beautiful mountains in Europe. The owner is a an accomplished chef, so the small - maybe seats 50 people - reataurant punches way above its weight in quality, originality and selection. I highly recommend staying over on a Wednesday for their fabled Schnitzeltag, when they have 25 kinds of schnitzel on the menu. It's also an easy walk into Oberammergau and there is one of the best schwimbads in Germany about 3 mins up the road. For Americans - these are wildly elaborate swimming complexes throughout Germany. This one has six various pools and two big indoor tube slides. Ridiculously cheap and a great way to wear out the kids for a day. The only downside to city cave dwellers may be that when the breeze comes off the mountains, you can smell the neighbrs - goats and milk cows. This is a place not to be missed in an idyllic setting.

"Mostly good...."

8.0

The room was nice and clean, breakfast was good with plenty of choice. A couple of the staff members were stiff and border-line rude. The hallway carpet smelled of cigarette smoke but the room was clean. Bathroom was modern with an excellent shower and plenty of hot water. Evening meals in the restaurant were fair to good, prices were okay. Decent value for the money but, one more unpleasant staff member and this review would have been very negative.
