Windbell Villa

Overall, this was a great hotel. Really nice rooms, friendly staff and good location. Our only criticism is a rather strange one: living close to our bedroom window was a rooster. It crowed at various times of the day and night (including from 5am to 7am each morning). Additionally, as others have mentioned, there was some construction work going on in/around the hotel. The rooster-construction combo made it difficult to sleep at times. Other than that, a great find and very good value for money.

We arrived just to be informed (with a sign and without appolgies) that there is construction work. Cant understand why we have not been informed before arrival as we were in contact with this hotel until 1 day before our arrival. This was clearly on purpose, we've been tired and due to the cancellation policies we had no option. Work is from 07h00-17h00, so forget about a nap, or sleeping a bit longer. Our passports have been "borrowed" but only returned at checkout. With no explanation, the room was payed and we had no extras...anyway, what gives anybody the right to hold back your passports? Anywhere in vietnam the accomodations only took copies and gave the passports back. You dont get much assistance (and to be honest, we where not interested after all this surprises) for your time in hoi an, except to go to the tailor that is somehow connected with this accomodation. Room is really nice and clean. Staff is not that friendly or motivated, except one young lady during breakfast service. On then last day we had a dead mouse on our corridor

This is a great home stay option. Cam Nam island is quiet but there are some good options for food and some nice places for a beer. At Windbell you are away from the noise on the roads and bustle from the tourist area, but in less than 10 mins walk you are at the central old town. The hotel is small with only a few rooms around a nice pool and beautiful gardens. It has a personal feel and is very comfortable if you want to lounge by the pool. Rooms are spacious. Some additional notes: - The area is safe. You can walk back to the hotel easily at night without worry. - There is an 11pm lockup - you can still get in after 11 by buzzing and they come and let you in. In practice most of the town except the tourist strip on the next island is all shut down by 10 so you are unlikely to find this much of an issue. - Miss Hong is a great stop for a beer on the way into town before the bridge. She rents bikes, does laundry, serves beer, offers very cheap taxi services to airport and tourist places, and is an all round star! Well worth visiting. - Renting bikes and going on your own to Cam Kim island is my favorite recommendation. The ferry is pretty mad and leaves from just past the Market on the tourist bit. No need for a tour guide. Just go and explore Cam Kim on bikes.

We stayed in a standard room and it was quite large, clean and well equipped. The bathroom was also very nice. The wi-fi sometimes doesn't work that well from the bed room but is always ok in the reception/restaurant. The staff is very friendly and they don't try to sell you loads of visits/packages, but if you want to book anything they can do, so that's great. The swimming pool is very nice, especially after a hot day! The breakfast is very nice, you can order as much as you want. The hotel is located on an island south of Hoi An, you can walk to old town in 10-15 min. The hotel proposes taxi service to old town for 30,000 VND (1.5 USD) and to the beach for 80,000 VND. You can hire a bike for 30,000 VND per day. The one I had was quite poor though... The hotel can drop you off to the airport for 20 USD: A bit more expensive than what you can get from the old town by negotiating but at least they're on time, their car is nice, they know you have paid at reception, they understand where you want to go! We thought it was good value for money as we had a nice deal on hotels.com

Great family run business, quiet part of town within easy walk to the ancient town. We loved the breakfast and the pool, staff were friendly and helpful.

The beds and pillows were too hard. Couldn't sleep the first 2 nights. Homestay is a different but cosy experience. Nice concept. Very laid back and relaxing. We enjoyed the pool very much. Not crowded at all. The host is very helpful. Breakfast is good. I would recommend Windbell to travelers who desire a private, uncommercialised, quiet & relaxed surrounding.

A nice location a few minute walk to main market. I quiet location to relax away from the hustle and bustle.

The place was clean and comfortable. It is an easy walk to the main part of town. There is a motorbike rental very close. The location is comfortably away from the noise of town. Breakfast was satisfying. The setting is relaxing

Pleasant setting apart from some neighbour's roosters who don't know when to go to sleep! Close to the centre of the old town, and with helpful staff. Real local living. Nice.
