its my first experience with 'solar', and its not for me' including the shower
Great to have wallabies at the doorstep. Not what we expected, an ECOhouse. No wifi, TV or charging ability. But we still had a very comfortable stay and loved the wildlife.
* I booked a room at HBR, and contacted immediately to change the booking as I'd made an error with my dates. It took several calls and a great deal of stress to resolve the issue. On two occasions, the manager chose to answer the call only to advise that he was unable to assist as the call had come through outside of business hours. Their terms and conditions state that bookings and payment are non-refundable, so I could choose to either cancel the booking and lose the payment, or pay an extra $50 'change fee' to change to another date. I decided to pay the fee and change the date. Even though I agreed to pay the change fee,I was still told off by the manager for the inconvenience. I have never had such rude service from a business owner in my life and regret my choice to stay here. * The journey there is unsafe without a 4 wheel drive and this is not made clear on the website. The gravel road to the accommodation is 4 km long; there’s a small section towards the end that’s so steep and bumpy I felt we were at risk of running off the road. * The accommodation has a four star rating and the room cost is very high relative to other four star hotels I've stayed in in the past however the hotel did NOT provide basic items such as complimentary shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, shower cap, face washer, or breakfast provisions. Very disappointing.
It was a great experience however we found the price to be expensive.
Nice break away from almost everything, lovely environment. Owls hooting at night animal visitors. The drive in to the venue was challenging' steep, with corrugations, pot holes and not for the feint hearted. Really good hot showers. Ample options for walks .
This was our third trip to Tassie and thought we would try something different My husband and I loved the tipee and being amongst wildlife and nature which is what we look for when traveling Michael also welcomed us to an early check in which was fabulous Unfortunately that night we couldn't get the oven working in the communal cooking area and Paul came out to see us My husband joked and said I hope we haven't interupped your favourite show on telly and his response was Well I was watching Dr Who.... We had a giggle but Paul didn't and we felt like we were a nuisance So then the following morning we went to check out and we thanked Paul for having us and what a wonderful time we had and he kept replying Yep Yep Yep and then asked why we chose to book on Wotif? He then went on to lecture us about how he incurs an $18 fee and that we should have booked on his original website and was quite rude From what we could see there was no one else staying at this property and we left feeling upset as we had booked other accomadation on Wotif and were made to feel welcome I know we were not there to socialise with the owners but I felt so upset after we had such a nice stay I said to my husband I feel so sad and I feel like crying But we ventured on and met many more beautiful peeps Maybe Paul was having a bad day I know we all do But if you're running a business Seriously not cool
We loved how Huon bush retreats is located partway up a mountain in the middle of the bush. It was so peaceful and quiet! The indoor fire and heated outdoor bath were great and the Eco-cabins were perfect! We aren't serious bush walkers but enjoyed some of the easier trails throughout the beautiful Tasmanian wilderness. Would recommend the stream side cabin because it's so secluded! Highly recommended if you love and respect the environment!
This place is awesome. Stayed in the Tipee which is basically like a permanent campsite. Perfect if you like camping but don't have the gear with you. The hike to the top of the mountain is pretty good too.
Quite nice, stayed in a tp. Not what I expected but nice all the same.
The hotel has taken the time to create beautiful well groomed trails in the forest. The cabin is spacious. You are close to the Huon Valley with all its attractions. And you are on your way to Southern Tasmania. Great package of features!
