"A gem of a hotel"

10.0

Staff at Royal Hotel were friendly, helpful. That, combined with the fact that the hotel's on a side street just off the main road (within 300 feet of the market!!) and just 2 block away from Nary's restaurant/cooking school, gives you not only a quiet home away from home, but also a very convenient one. A winner in every way!!

"Wkend in Battambang"

8.0

Great location, near market, western food store, western restuarants, clean rooms, quiet hotel, free WIFI, Tv with some english stations, air con, complimentary flip flops Rooftop restuarant looked nice but didnt use. hotel staff knowledgeable on places to go/things to see and can arrange anything and their English is quite good. I bought a Children's Circus ticket (highly recommend) and bus ticket at front desk (no overpricing on either ticket) Note: Grab a hotel business card and map at front desk in case you wonder off and need to hail a moto or tuk tuk Massage parlor by blind masseuses next door and Sunrise cafe has wonderful bakery two doors down from hotel. Wonderful restaurants in easy distance: Cafe Eden, my favorite owned by American. Has great crepes, lemonade, chicken sanwich and fries. Everything looks great here and they train locals in food managment. Gecko nice atmosphere-had a fair meal here but they have an awesome free city map downstairs at the desk. Bakeries in town have donuts Madison has good ice cream and croissants. Did Bamboo train, bat cave, khmer killing cave and children's circus show. Recommend all of them.

"good value and central"

8.0

Overall, this hotel was great for the money. Lots of things around it, but the rooftop restaurant offers an easy alternative for meals. Service at the restaurant was unreasonably slow, for both breakfast and dinner (same waiter). We gave ourselves plenty of time for breakfast before our scheduled pickup, relative to the norm at similar hotels, and ended up having to quickly stuff our omelettes into our bread to take with us, since it all came just in time. My other real pet peeve with this hotel was that the front desk guy (who had booked our boat to Siem Reap) asked us where we were staying in Siem Reap, saying he would call ahead to them to arrange a pickup from the boat. We were not mistaken in that he clearly led us to believe he was calling our Siem Reap hotel to arrange a ride. When we arrived in Siem Reap, it turned out what he had actually done was to give our name to a "friend" with a tuk tuk, who then "offered" to be our tour guide in Siem Reap. He was in no way affiliated with our hotel. Not to mention the fact that his tuk tuk broke down on us.
